What we need right now, is another third party developer buying up the rights to the Battletech universe, then we may see some new material (ie. books, games, and other merchandise) using the Battletech universe.

After some time, they named newly discovered Clan mechs the same as the clans, but the old IS names remain. So that's why the Timber Wolf is called a Mad Cat, or the Summoner called a Thor.

Oct 14, 2008 - A company called SMith & Tinker has bought the rights to several franchises formerly owned by Microsoft and one of them is Mechwarrior. Smith & TInker is owned by Jordan Weisman, the very same man that created FASA so long ago which gave birth the Mechwarrior as we know it today.
