Jul 26, 2008 - My dad just passed away from Alzheimer's Disease. These stats are no joke thats for sure. It is a horrible illness that demands more funding for research.

Jul 26, 2008 - I lost my Papaw to Alzheimer's last January. He passed away 11 days before his 91st birthday. He had it for six and a half years. This disease is a thief. It robbed my Papaw of his independence and his life. Please support the cure for Alzheimer's! More funding is needed!

padude64 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - My mother became so violent that she'd beat her visitors with a plastic baseball bat. I took care of her until she died, however it was very difficult to encourage others from our families to visit her. To many hard feelings. Sometimes it's just takes one person who has enough love to make a positive diference in an Alzheimer's friend or family member. He lucky he has you as a friend.

padude64 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - My friend is a little better but i hate the meds he is on which are aricept and namenda! My friend says he does not have Alzheimers! The meds are making him drool which is not my friend!

padude64 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Alzheimers has to be the most difficult disease to live with because the agony of their suffering seems prolonged! You dont want to see the suffer! They suffer mentally, not physically which is a pure shame!

Jul 26, 2008 - The Support Groups, Memory Club and Graduate's Club with the Alzheimer's Association, really saved my life, and my husband's life. His group all have it, and while they are together having fun, actually getting therapy, my group, the Care Giver's group, ...don't know how to describe. We cry, and talk and share. I wasn't making it without them. You people who share here, are amazing. I feel less alone. No one, understands this overwhelming, protracted nightmare. I'm helpless to stop it.

Jul 26, 2008 - I think it would be interesting if old people got anti-Alzheimer's disease where they slowly began to recover other people's lost memories.

Jul 26, 2008 - My mother has been diagnosed for over 2 years now and we can't even talk to eachother for fear of all the anger and confusion. My father has been her care giver and I know he is so tired. Since I seem to trigger her anger, it is best for her and I to remain seperate. It breaks my heart not to see them and today is my Father's birthday. It hurts so bad to not be free to call him today.

showcasemerchandise Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - If anyone would have told me my family would be in this shape, ten years ago, I would have called them a fool. Well folks, it is very real and nobody can know the pain this past few years has been. Thanks for showing your support and remember to care for yourself, because if not you may end up sick, like I was. Then you are no good to anyone.

showcasemerchandise Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I was guilty of not taking care of myself and crashed hard. Fortnately, my sisters have picked up the responsiblity but God, why can't they find a cure for this? It is devastating and I am so sorry for anyone who has to live through it.May God Bless You All.
