This is the Devgan "No Touch" Technique for ICL Surgery from Uday Devgan MD at the Maloney Vision Institute in Los Angeles, California. The Implantable Contact Lens is carefully inserted into perfect position _without_ the need for further manipulation using other instruments, as is typically the case. This makes for a safer and better surgery for the patients. See www.MaloneyVision.com for more information.

Oct 11, 2008 - Dear Dr. udaythanks for the nice videoA small question for you, Do u do an iridectomy in these cases, if so, will u do it intraoperatively or preoperative with YAG laserthanks

ceiol Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Good question -- in this eye a pre-op YAG PI was done. In other cases, I do an intra-op PI.

Oct 11, 2008 - why don't you use the IA from the phaco to remove the viseoelastic instead of using the 2 instuments

ceiol Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Jenny that's a great question. Using the traditional coaxial IA from the phaco would cause anterior chamber instability and if the IA tip touched the ICL it may cause it to bump into the human crystalline lens, thereby causing a cataract. It's important that the surgeon NOT perform ICL surgery like traditional cataract surgery. Also, I see that you and I are both Coldplay fans -- I use a Clocks instrumental as the background music in my videos.

Oct 11, 2008 - Yes, it is a Zeiss Lumera microscope -- superb optics. Only the best for me!
