More free videos available online at www.knittinghelp.com. Continental Method aka German Method sometimes called Left Handed KnittingOfficially, anyone who holds the yarn in their left hand is a Continental knitter. Some continental knitters wrap the yarn between the needles to knit it, and some simply scoop, or "pick", the yarn with the needle. The latter requires fewer hand movements, and has a reputation of being the fastest method of knitting there is. This is my preferred knitting method.

Jul 26, 2008 - you're wonderful. an 80 yr old fellow church choir member tried to get me to change my throwing method and to put the needle in front of the thumb on my right hand. i eventually got it, but i felt there were some inadequacies (sp) to her method. so i'm going to try yours first thing tomorrow morning.

Jul 26, 2008 - Hi, I am a male knitter of many years, but had never heard of this technique before today. When I googled knitting, 'continental' came up. I LOVE your video. SO clear, SO easy to follow. THANK YOU. Please put up more; perhaps a 'pearl' video. I have watched one already, and it was pretty good. I must learn this technique. It looks fun, fast and easy.

Jul 26, 2008 - How about giving your 4-year-old some fat (and blunt!!) needles and some nice chunky, comfy thread so they make fast progress...and it's more rewarding for them ;) All you need to knit is the desire to do so, and saying they're too little to try would probably break their heart!!I reckon it's a lovely idea, they'd be so proud and it would teach them perseverance and patience lol!
