westpsmity Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - She's a good guitarist, I'll give her that, but she needs to either work on or completely stop the guitar slaps, every time she does it it makes me wince. Some people can do it really well, like Andy Mckee, he uses them wonderfully, but it sounds awful to me when she does it; to me anyway, I've never heard anyone else say anything about it.

craigdamage Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Observations I have made about "super virtuosos"over the last 25 years:a)99% of them have simply over expanded hammer-ons and or tapping technique.(Stanley Jordan...etc)b)Their core audience is made up of non-musicians.c)none of them can function in a band or as songwriter.d)yawn.......
tonebarista Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - i could not agree more. can we please see something new and interesting?
craigdamage Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The greatest musicians I have ever played with are the ones who can grind out a good song out of just three or four chords. Those who over accelerate a single technique always seem to be missing something. I believe some of the most profoundly emotional and sublime moments from art and music are derived from simplicity.

Jul 26, 2008 - half stocked.

Jul 26, 2008 - Kaki king is amazingHave you listened to her other songs? not only is she amazing at the "hammer-ons and tapping" technique that you have observed, she is very versatile and can easily "grind out a good song out of just three or four chords"In my opinion the definition of a super-virtuoso is one that can create amazing works of art with ease, and Kaki King is most definitely one of, or better yet the best of these individuals.
pinky0926 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - You're completely right "craigdamage". How often do you see people saying "Wow, she's using her fingers/nails!" as if that's never been done before.I also dislike the way she stares at the camera in that arrogant way. Self indulgent garbage. Maybe she should write songs rather than record technical exercises.
QuackyQuackerQuack Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - She's got good technique I guess, but this barely even sounds like music. Ugh.
jazztrumpet87 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Wrong Quack. Use your ears.
tomasich123 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - This is merely percussion, not music indeed. I'v realized u'v got no concept of what music really is. Actually, music is the delicate expression of an idea ora feeling. Basicaly, i can't make out what is she trying to say, as there's not a clear musical idea developed. You don't have to make a big efford so as to produce that basic sounds. This performace is simply too rude and basic, i'd recommend to search out what's hidden in the heart and not in what will be produced by awarless movements.
Xenobli Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Spoken like a true classical musician.Seriously. Get over classical music. This is music in a different style.
Tomwainwright Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Why must it be delicate? and percussion is not music? funny how percussive instruments are a classification of musical instruments you retard. I actually don't tend to like musicians just showing off their chops (for example most of the time i hate shredders) also if music is the expression (delicate or otherwise) of an idea of feeling (which it doesn't always have to be. then what happens if you want to express a rude and or basic feeling/idea? should those be written out of the definition ...
Tomwainwright Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - just because you don't happen to like those ideas? thats like saying a book is only a book if the ideas expressed are pleasant. I don't tend to like overly indulgent musicians who are simply displaying their virtuosity over the feeling they deliver etc. But i don't think Kaki king is particularly guilty of that, sure she may show off a little but i dont think she does it at huge expense. In conclusion, you not liking a piece of music doesnt make it music, at best it makes it bad music.
dasilodavi Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - While I disagree with your opinion I respect your right to say it. Actually I thought it was pretty funny.
