OssoEater Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - The only people that have sophisticated palates are chefs, taste testers and the like. And not everyone can have a discerning palate since it's has been proven that only some ppl are born with enough taste buds to make it so.
xjesusxchristx Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - And this is actual scientific fact!(the sophisticated palate comment...) It's a bit of the complicated palate making for good chefs and the like due to that, but also, the constant interaction, learning, and all that(with food) actually "trains" the taste buds so to speak... It's why things like beer taste better as we get to know them better! By the way... I am a chef!

KonradAdenauer Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - I suspect that someone who really knows wine would catch the cheap wine. Otherwise, interesting.

Jul 7, 2008 - This & the sex & drug stuff get Penn & Teller's populist audience to trust them. Then they betray that trust with their pro-corporate Cato Institute right-wing propaganda:. secondhand smoke is nonhazardous. give US jobs to illegal immigrant slaves. let corporations patent the food supply. factory-farm meat & fluoridated H2O are good for you. environmentalism = fraud. 9/11 = "evildoers who hate us for our freedoms". pharmaceutical co.'s/AMA are the only valid health care sources
Sangster94 Says:

MagnesDrachen13 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - It's all psychological. "High end" food and "regular food" are the same in the end. Now it's true they are prepared differently, classy, and in smaller portions, but in the end, it's all in the mind of the person forking over the dough. If you believe what you're eating is somehow classier or more exquisite, then you'll convince yourself that it is in fact better, regardless of whether it is or not. I'll take my cheeseburger and mountain dew and keep my money.
Miryr Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - There's a difference between MC Donald's and a prime rib
Miryr Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - It's just that people call themselves experts when they don't know anything about something for example:The reason mos people started smoking is because somebody asked him/her if he/she smoked. They of course didn't want to look like an ass so they said yeah I do it's like the story "The emperors new clothes"
LightWarrior1 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - The fake redhead did not look amused. Wow, she probably beat her date's ass on the ride home.
MagnesDrachen13 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - apples and oranges. Yes, there is a difference in how the meat is prepared, what cut they use, etc. but that's not my point. The point is, the difference between a $15 steak and a $45 steak from a "fancy" restaurant is merely $30. It's all psychological. If you are fed the same meat, one can be "average", while the other is seen as "exquisite" simply because you were TOLD it is better. It's suggestion.
CavallinoSilver Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - I tell you what, if the guy had actually been a gourmet chef or one of those professional whine tasters(? not sure what's the english word for that) he wouldn't have fallen for that. But yeah, for most people, the difference is just psychological.
