Oct 7, 2008 - I think as a prototype, they spent little time on hardware/speed/graphics (like transparency etc.)I would guess OS designers, like Apple, would take care of things like having nice transparency on the finger, something that is subtle but doesn't obstruct the use...doesn't sound like a horrible problem to have to fix. I'd guess one would likely stick with single-handed function, but then switch to this to type very fast. Would be cool for videogames!

Oct 7, 2008 - wouldnt the cramp you fingers
SponggeBobb Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Wouldn't you get cramp from using that as a computer? If you think about how much you would probably use it it could get uncomfortable.
VoidKeeper Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - this sounds too hard to use :S and I don't mean that I don't understand, I mean it's not taht good of an Idea, I had and idea but it only works with desktop PCs, I'll post the idea on a Video some day ^^

Oct 7, 2008 - I think it would be much easier/logical to improve on regular touch screens. I don't see the advantages of having a screen operated from behind. A stylus easily fixes the imprecision of fingers.

Oct 7, 2008 - You guys its a prototype lol it isnt going to be perfect...
philltron007 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Not just ugly, but bulky!
kokoA380 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Thats huge!
lightshadow22 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - ...Yeah it's ok...but only for a prototype. I'm looking forward to what it could be. Keep up the work!

Oct 7, 2008 - onbe of the one si dont think will ever take off. i mean you could just use a stylus for more accuracy and even if you want that background touch the device is still going to be big and cumbersome. neat idea but no real practical purpose i can see...
nom123 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - that's why they call it prototype, u moron
benjaminkendall Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - This is just stupid.Apple's multi-touch conquers this on so many levels. Not to mention thats a entirely new way to type, which might have a hard learning curve.
bayzano Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Hahaha it has a camera behind!
VJFranzK Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - good concept
Gizmondo23 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - really cool
mwillner Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - For now, a less sophisticated way to "see" keys on the back of a device is to put decals on the front which show the character location. That's how people learn to use an AlphaGrip, a handheld keyboard and mouse that looks like a game controller, which has 12 keys on the back (including 8 rocker keys) and 18 keys plus a trackball on the front, which enable comfortable, hi-speed typing at 50+ wpm and 10-finger-control gaming, while standing, reclining, lying down, or sitting anyhere.

Oct 7, 2008 - Play the video between 0:53 and 0:54. The narrator says, "the lucid touch prototype".
mkauf84 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - It uses the regular qwerty layout. It has only just been rotated to be easier to use. Rather than putting it down to type or using a portable keyboard attachment. The user can keep it held in their hands while typing. All the fingers would be used to touch the same keys that would be touched on a regular keyboard. What you seen on the video is a prototype.
mkauf84 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - So it can be held. Not everywhere people goes will have a large flat surface to place their laptop on.
mkauf84 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Something that will most likely be an option that can turned off. Altough, how is it any more intrucive than having your fingers blocking the screen using a regular touch screen? At least the image of your fingers would be semi-translucent. Making it easier to see what is being pressed.
mkauf84 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Microsoft and Apple are the same company they just say it is to promote competition.
mIgHTymAN998 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - it probley fits beautifully in r pocket
Brittanybaby10 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - thaT THING IS TOO BIG
dustin60671 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - I don't like it at all.
GanjoManjo Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - That is brilliant. I can't wait until the concept is used with Touch sense on the back (as opposed to a huge camera, of course!). This will make typing with a real keypad possible, with some nicely designed interfaces, this should make things like the iPhone even more fun + efficient to operate.
