Aug 21, 2008 - You seem to have preferance to Dramatic Wagnerian sopranoes, which admittedly isn't Kirby; Who is very successful for her baroquian soprano repetoire. I think judges of such panels try to find a balance in the people they choose and their relative areas of expertees; it isn't "20 greatest dramatic wagnerian sopranoes", so they have to appeal to a greater classical music community.

Aug 21, 2008 - I really think at this age of baroque revival people need to rewire their taste away from the dramatic and gain more appreciation for Emma's more sophisticated voice. She does lack a little "color" for this particular "fury"...then again she does exhibit "fury," you gotta listen carefully! Besides, Bartoli REALLY need to work on her shotgun coloratura...listen to her recent "Disseratevi o porte d'averno" versus Emma Kirkby's and you tell me who's better.

Aug 21, 2008 - Pues la Bartoli es una virtuosa pero sus gestos son espantosos. A mi me gusta muchisimo su voz pero no se puede comparar con Kirby, Cecilia es mezzo y Emma es soprano. Emma, quien es una segnora que lleva muchisimos anios en esto, siempre ha sido una cantante de musica antigua y Cecilia es cantante de opera. Las dos son maravillosas en su estilo.
