Jul 26, 2008 - True that! Geddy rules as well! But as far as his originality, I read an interview with Geddy and he counted Entwistle and Squire as some big influences. Squire will never have any of the technical skills of Geddy. But his "Bass singing" style of weaving bass lines in and out of a song structure, to me, is pretty hard to top! Take another listen to "Close to the edge" for an example. But all props to Geddy.

Jul 26, 2008 - I'll stop rating the players if you stop rating the clothes...actually the obsession with looks and standings is lame eh? Should ONLY be about playing enjoyment by player AND listener..and there are so many talented players wasting time on the superficial aspects is just sad.

Jul 26, 2008 - Actually, I think Bill left Yes to go on tour with Genesis when Phil had to step up to take Peter Gabirels spot. After the Trick of the Tail tour, Bill was invited by Fripp to recreate Crimson. ( I think, I could be wrong) I smoked a lot pot back then.HEHE

Jul 26, 2008 - Nope, Bruford left Yes in mid-'72 to go to King Crimson. Bruford didn't perform with Genesis until the '76 Genesis Tour. Wiki makes it pretty clear, if you search both (Genesis and Yes) bands.

Jul 26, 2008 - hey! im just playing goddamnit. i love chris. just listen to those awesome pick lines. i wish i had money for a rickenbacker or hell just to take up 10 minutes of his time to tell me what his secret is.

Jul 26, 2008 - This time tried not to pay attention to the bassline (difficult!) and i found very interesting how the fender rhodes (Moraz) and organ (Jackman) make this kind of "rhytmic oposition" on the intro and main verses... this is one record that you can find new things in each listen. I recently did a bass cover of it if you want to check. Great great post. Greetings!

Jul 26, 2008 - is that brufford back there? cant recall the exact line up for this album but Moraz. anyways, this is a pretty good album, that Silentely Falling is beatiful, but let me tell you, Squires voice works better as backin for Anderson, it gets so anoying! He should

Jul 26, 2008 - Agreed, would have been a totally different show had Levin been able to take part. That guy takes the stage big time. I love Berlin but it was too last minute. He is a great player.I first saw this video as part of a cinema event which also had a YESSONGS film shown with it. I'm dissapointed to see now that it wasn't as 'live' as I thought it was all those years ago. Good to see it. This clip is available with the Special edition release of Fish Out Of Water, if you can find it. Happy hunting.

Jul 26, 2008 - I don't mean to disrespect you, chamois, but after reading your posts about Chris and that crass comment about his outfit being made out of toilet paper is out of line.It seems you only liked Squire for the sake of banging him. >:(Who cares about how he looks or how he dresses. The man's a great talent!
chamoisleather Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - No disrepect taken yesfreak73. I am wild about Chris Squire's music and adore his first solo LP. I am crazy about all Yes music until and including the 'drama' LP. I just want to bang him as well., Does that make me bad?
yesfreak73 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Nope, doesn't make you bad. I was just wondering, that's all.

Jul 26, 2008 - Chris Squire is just amazing. Whats more amazing, is that this is the first solo song Ive ever heard from him. I see how he can be a great aspiration to those like "miguelbass"

Jul 26, 2008 - chris is THE shyte as far as bass players go. no further proof needed beyond this video...though a better sounding copy would be cool
