Jul 7, 2008 - Yeah Krupa was a good drummer at the time, but then Buddy Rich came along and used krupas ideas and made them better. Buddy Rich is hands dow the best drummer ever. Thats my opinion

CDBigShow Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Oh give it a rest. I'm joining the Army, but we all know that the Marines are one of the most efficient fighting forces on the planet. Every battle goes as follows: send in the Marines, who will wipe most opposition out, and then use the Army for janitorial fighting. It's just fact. Even the basic training is exponentially harder.

Jul 7, 2008 - What has your comment, CDBigShow, have to do with this video? You are supposedly responding to a comment I made, but I have never commented on this video, much less post something on it about the Army vs Marine Corps. The Marine Corps has often shown itself to be a tough fighting force, but at the expense of its men. As a Marine officer once said (paraphrasing), "The Army use tanks to support its men, while the Marine Corps uses men to support its tanks."

1947studebaker1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - They can be excellent as a fighting force, but to say that they are one of the most EFFICIENT on the planet is certainly stretching it (look at their casualty rates during just about every conflict). While Marine Force Recon is to be high praised for its efficiency (among other elite forces), the Marine Corps does not always qualify.

1947studebaker1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - And you say that EVERY battle has the Marines wiping out the opposition, while the Army then does janitorial fighting? Where did you see that? The Civil War? No. Spanish American War? No. WWI? No again. WWII? Still no. (Tell that to my father who served at Attu, Kwajalein, Philippines, and Okinawa, with the Army Infantry.) Korea? No once more. Vietnam? No, no. Grenada? No. Panama? NO, the Army led. Persian Gulf? No again. Afghanistan and Iraq (the latter of which I served with the Army)? No way.

1947studebaker1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - What IS true, is that there have been times where the Marines have made a beach landing, and paved the way for Army forces (such as at Guadalcanal in WWII). But JANITORIAL fighting? You know little of Army history. As to Marine Boot Camp, yes, it is hard, but that rests greatly upon the fact that the Marines are sea-soldiers, and are still expected to make beach landings when needed. The Army hasn't made such landings in many decades, and therefore doesn't train its Soldiers with that in mind.

1947studebaker1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - And according to a recent article in The Army Times, Army Combat Basic Training is going through a large overhaul, the first in decades, in order to make it more grueling and relevent to today's combat. In closing, why are you even joing the Army, when you hold it in such disregard? I hope that you don't let a Drill Sergeant overhear such comments from you.

Jul 7, 2008 - What about Chick Webb or Jo Jones or even Dave Tough. they were all excellent drummers. i think Webb was probably the greatest drummer ever, not buddy rich, especially some of Rich's later work.

Kaaawa2000 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Gene had good boo that night.

musikpojken11 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - a legend

ParnvoL Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - In my opinion you can't really tell who the ebst drummer ever was or is cause you can't really compare Rich or Krupa to players like Mike Portnoy or Chris Adler (just an example), cause they are all different drummers with different styles.I don't think it's fair comparing a jazz drummer to a metal drummer or a funk drummer to a rock drummer.
