Jul 26, 2008 - i would say, if it wasn't for people like buddy rich, elvin jones, max roach, louie bellson, jo jones, gene kurpa, roy hanes and art blakey, there wouldn't even be jazz, hi-hats, poly, chops, stick tricks, nicer cymbals, and above all ... i guess we won't even know the real art of drumming. and this video may look easy, but it is the fundamental of hi-hat play.

Jul 26, 2008 - hmmm you have no idea what you're talking about?

Jul 26, 2008 - Lovin' it... lol... I'm a drummer, so this inspires me to do better despite the fact I'm still grasping all sorts of contents...To all you guys that say it's boring or stupid, why don't you actually try drumming? Drumming is probably most crucial in most types of music, especially in Rock and, believe it or not, Rap would not exist without drummers like me and Max and Jo Jones keepin' your stupid beats going...

Jul 26, 2008 - wow that's some increadible speed and accuracy, its a shame that we have to listen to it in pure quality MP3; it doesn't capture the detail in the high frequencies, which is obviously important here. Show me a wav! I want CD quality!

Jul 26, 2008 - "I'm wrong and your right"how do you ever expect people to think your right with that logic... you need to think about your overall attitude if thats your logic

konzwambii Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Why is the word great used? When you're mining in a salt mine, the word great is not relevant.

wikisenia Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I see how this is hard to play, but it doesnt sound all that good ?

thatkendallguy Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This is something I discovered. In order to become a better total drummer, I took my kit apart, and drummed each piece individually. Every hat, cymbal, tom, snare I owned, I worked out on alone. It makes for better solos. Max Roach's Hat work was always a staple in my exercises.

Jul 26, 2008 - I've been in the music business over 40 yrs.And it never seizes to amaze me how much in the Drumming Field you can advance on.When I saw Buddy Rich in person, I expected ALL solos on the drums, instead he did as Max did and Solo'd on the Sock(Hi Hat).reat Job!

blkdrkkngt Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Dude, Its the feeling. Drums dont have to sound good to have feeling. First rule.

shadowlorde Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - i'm not 100% but i think it's just because it gets a smoother sound than using your foot to close the hats. and the "technque" is a simple concept.. just grab it. lol but it's all about applying the right pressure so you get the right amount of "fuzz"

mfgops Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Rap & rock is all about the downbeat...great for things with a groove(dancing/f*cking)...the beauty of jazz is after you got your fill and don't want to obssess over the 1...like going for a walk after sex where you de-empasize the down and appreciate every other rhythm of nature...your heart beat, your breathe, the birds, the breeze, the sun, the moon...cycles that make a tapestry of existance...all part of the whole and with greater expanse and subtlety then just 1...2...1...2
