No one drummer has mastered Chick Corea's music quite like Dave. If people knew exactly how difficult it is to do some of Dave's chops and rolls they'd appreciate it more. To most it sounds like he's doing the same thing over and over again. Trust me my friend he is not. He is in a class all by himself. That said, he's not a nice guy in person at all...

Oct 7, 2008 - in my ipinion weckl its not good in latin.. i don´t like the sound.. in jazz woow i think he is the greatest..but in latin i think he needs to do like more variations and don´t full the rythm of snare drum.. he use the snare quite a lot and that it makes that the groove sounds like whitout the latin feel

Oct 7, 2008 - Well I went to see him in NYC at the Blue Note. It was a Chick gig with the Electric Band. I went upstairs to get a picture with him and he went into his dressing room and closed the door on us. Then when he came out he gave me a fake smile and treated me like "can we get this over with". I was mad, and told him he owed me that because I've bought all his records. Chick was a great guy though...very nice to my wife and I.

Oct 7, 2008 - never had heard Travis Barker, then I watched couple of his vids. IMO comparing Dave Weckl with Travis Barker is like comparing a Rolex with an hourglass, with all due respect to Mr. Barker and his particular, uhm - powerful drumming style.
