Jul 7, 2008 - I'm just saying his demonstration is brutal. Show me a video of him hitting like that...he doesn't do that. Not all good hitters are good teachers either. He suceeded with an unorthodox method....good for him. I just wouldn't teach an unorthodox style to everyone. Stick to sound mechanics. Garry Sheffield has a different style...he is great at it...but I wouldn't teach it to everyone.

Jul 7, 2008 - ok my friend thinks that you should bat with your elbow up, and insists that he is correct and that i have to bat his way. i know this is crap because i have been playing select baseball for a long time. can someone tell me why its wrong tho.

Jul 7, 2008 - A misconception is that a raised elbow allows you to have more torque and hit the ball further. Torque comes from your hips, speed comes from how quick you can throw your hands to the point of contact. Your elbow will have to drop to an even position with your front arm as your swing begins. If you have your arm raised, this causes a slight extra amount of time to be used.

Jul 7, 2008 - If the arms and elbows are level, low, and tucked slightly you are in the proper position for a quicker stroke. it allows you to wait longer, read the pitch. Minimizes movement. More whip with hands= more bat speed= more power.
