Pavlov's Tower Of Silence was the site for his experiments of the physiology of digestion. A converted staircase, the tower consisted of eight rooms in which every environmental factor from temperature to vibration to sound could be controlled. It should be considered that even when we are not ourselves in isolation chambers being manipulated to provide a pre-specified response, our behavior is constantly being shaped and influenced by factors we may not be aware of, and of which it is not always neccessary to be a willing participant. The video was made from over three-hundred 3"x4" drawings which were scanned in and animated using Final Cut Pro. Pavlov's octet: Meg Griffith (flute), Daniel F Cantu (trumpet), Gabriel Lit (clarinet), Lindsey Verrill (bass), Scott Marosek (piano), Dianna Wray (soprano), Jessica Leza (alto), William Maher (tenor) Soundtrack performed live Feb 25, 2005 at the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theater in Denton TX with support from Dave Gedosh, Chapman Welch, and the Center for Experimental Music and Intermedia.
