Oct 7, 2008 - It's definatley worth it. There are a lot of war scenes. I watched it when it came out and we watched it in SS this year. I really enjoyed it, and that's even coming from a girl! ;) But anyways, it's totally worth it. --The main reason I saw it was because my grandpa was in WWII & Korea :)

Oct 7, 2008 - You're so right. That's the part of the reason my grandpa enlisted in the army back then. He said he wanted to do what's right and keep the family tradition going. (Every generation has atleast one person in the army) Hr figured he'd get drafted anyway.

Oct 7, 2008 - I'm nervous about purchasing this. I started out with the glorious "Leters from iwo Jima" and I am curious how the companion piece is. I heard I would probably love it, but I also heard it will be very disappointing because Letters is the more unique and stronger of the two films. I'm nervous ... it looks so damn good.

Oct 7, 2008 - Nagasaki, where the nuclear bomb was dropped in ww2 is the famous place in Japan as the place where many christians in japan lives. The point nuclear bomb was dropped was right 500 meters above of the church. Many chiristian in Japan died at that time & some of them suffer severe illness still now. What an irony. There are nuked statue of Maria there now.

Oct 7, 2008 - Just finished watching this movie. It's VERY good, and a realistic story, about being a hero, is not what soldiers want to be. They fought for their country, and for their friends in the field. But when people havn't been through, what the soldiers have, the people can't understand what they have been through, and what war really is about.Great movie. Highly recommended!

Oct 7, 2008 - I love this movie...Two of my uncles fought on Iwo for the entire 40 day campaign. They were twins Ray and Jack. Even after surviving the bloodiest of the Corps' battles, Jack was killed by a drunk driver in '48 and Ray died of testicular cancer in the late 1960's. Semper Fi, Marines
Macabre10 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - If I were you I'd DEFINITELY purchase Flags of Our Fathers. Letters doesn't portray what the Marines endured as well as its counterpart. AND IT IS DAMN GOOD. But ultimately it's your choice

YogaNate79 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - "Kill Japs! Kill Japs! And kill more Japs!"---- Fleet Admiral William Halsey Jr.
NGS712 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Macabre: 'Letters doesn't portray what the Marines endured as well as its counterpart.'I haven't seen Letters, but I don't think the point of that movie was what the Marines endured. It's supposed to show the OTHER side of the battle.
AznGunzPlaya Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - the vets of ww2 should be honored and the dead should be honored also..
Macabre10 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - This trailer is intended for Flags of Our Fathers. Thats why I thought it was appropriate to say that.
NGS712 Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Macabre: I understand, but that's only because this movie is supposed to show the U.S. side whereas Letters is focused on the Japanese so it would make sense if it doesn't portray what the Marines endured as well as Flags.Either way, Flags was a very interesting movie and Letters looks just as good.
Goodspittin Says:
Oct 7, 2008 - Agreed, this, Letters from Iwo Jima, Private Ryan, and the Band of Brothers series are amazing. Honnor WW2 vets unconditionally, I even have respect for Japanese and German vets also, they served suffered just as our guys did.But truly, I have most respect for the Russian WW2 veterans.
