GinuwineSweets Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Actually...they all were "borrowed" from central and western Africa (Congo, Benin, Angola, Nigeria primarily). These dances were brought over by slaves to P.R., D.R, Cuba, and Brazil mostly....hence the "African Diaspora". They were danced in the areas that were predominantly black and then mixed with Portuguese and Spanish influences. Great Salsa, Rumba, Samba, Merengue, etc. know where the TRUE roots lie; Africa and they praise that. Just an FYI

Jul 26, 2008 - I wanna swing wid de homeys too - let my hips do the apologising for me with every sashay they say sorry..sorry.. shooing my cultural impoverishment away. Give me the sun and the suager canes.I buy in to it all; someone else's reality, other peoples depth of feeling, the comfort of sex without attachment and of course the various shades of oppression absorbed by association. I don't want to be this anymore, a pasty, clumsy. teuton with a Frankenstein feet. A one , two , three..here we go!

Jul 26, 2008 - School these people please GinuwineSweets! NOW they turn these dances into a "Ballroom" thing! PAAAALEASE!!! Nobody told this woman how to work her hips that way. That was from her heritage. If she would go to these ballrooms, she would give half of them "Stiff-Stuckups" a run for their money. NO lessons can teach them hips Mother Nature & her Heritage gave her that! We are Beautiful People of Color. Haters BackUp!!!
