Jul 26, 2008 - Get the profit out of Healthcare and watch healthcare expenses go down. Tricky Dick Nixon started this mess. Vote for anyone except corrupt, two-faced, self-serving, smug Republicans.

Jul 26, 2008 - Excellent! I will post the link on my MySpace Page...for starters! FREE Healthcare For ALL!
carRamRod04 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Take a look at the table on infant mortality, conditioned on birth weight. Looks like it might be quite foolish to have faith in identically distributed populations from one country to another.healthcare-economist(dot)com/2007/10/02/health-care-system-grudge-match-canada-vs-us/
DrDon5 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Your logic escapes me. Even if the stats are the same, Canadians spend only half as much per capita as we do.
carRamRod04 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Most stats you cite are final outcomes (Y). What we spend on health care doesn't buy us Y, what it buys us is Y - X, where X is the input into the system (our sick bodies). To claim that we spend more money (D) and get less (Y - X), one needs to ASSUME that X is practically equivalent across all countries and there is no need to exogenize other variables, like say demographics, diets, exercise routines, genetics, cultural norms, etc....
carRamRod04 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - This study is the beginning of the obvious, that ASSUMING homogeneity of X across countries is pure folly. If they could find data on maternity spending it would be an interesting comparison, but I'd imagine Canada is full of egregious cross subsidies making comparisons useless. Either way, I have yet to see a comprehensive study that doesn't rely on unrealistic assumptions.

Jul 26, 2008 - Try this one. Journal of the Am. Med. Assn. Vol. 295 No. 17, May 3, 2006; jama(dot)ama-assn(dot)org/cgi/content/short/295/17/2037The study controlled for various demographic factors and found that US men were sicker than Brits in many categories.

Jul 26, 2008 - This is the best idea that has been proposed and has been developed for quite a long time with lots of input from lots of people. I have had enough of corporations telling us what we can and cannot do! We NEED TO TAKE BACK OUR OWN HEALTHCARE AND OVERHAUL THE SYSTEM TO BENEFIT THE PEOPLE NOT THE CORPORATIONS! SUSAN CHANDLER

Jul 26, 2008 - This is a great video, my family is one of the millions of families here in california who are not only US citizens we are Veterans and we don't and can not get medical insurance. I support this idea completely!!!!!
snowguuruu Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - 1. Without open captions, this excellent video is not accessible to a large segment of the population who have hearing loss.2. No mention is made of what happens to people on Medicare
DrDon5 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - There is a DVD available with captions in Spanish and English at OneCareNow(dot)org. There is no need for Medicare under this plan. Everyone, regardless of age, receives comprehensive coverage for less than we are paying now.
scj16 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - you are a veteran and you weren't given citizenship? why?

Jul 26, 2008 - One thing I can say about this: The HMO's do NOT represent the people.
aboonski Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - I have traveled to other countries in Europe as has my brother and he had surgery that would have cost thousands in US and he got it for $1 hospital and $3 for doctor and we were only visiting! No more Republicans please as the only chance we in the middle class have are Democrats!
AmbientMusic Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Health Care is a RIGHT not a Privilege. Universal Health Care NOW!
eilloross Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Hey!Why don't you pay for medical school! Why don't you pay medical students a stipend to offset the opportunity cost of having no income for a long time because of school! Why don't you pay for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and other infrastructure that is required to provide health care! Why don't you pay malpractice premiums! Why don't you offer health care workers a pension plan! Wait, because it's not about THEM, it's about YOU! Health care is your "right" so they exist to serve YOU!
DRLAPAGLIA Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - This will never work. Nobody will ever want to pay for acupuncture. Start with just medical care and work your way up. I want universal healthcare, but it needs to be done in 'babysteps'. I WANT UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE SO BAD! I empathize, but all of those services through single payer care all at once is politically impossible.
forwardmover Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - "Lack of health insurance as a leading cause of death" ... you guys are wacked out. This video is full of mistruths and misleading facts. So bad I had to stop. Regarding the bro who needed the root canal, who probably drank too much soda pop, that's not a medical problem, most dental plans cover RC's at 50%, and what's the big deal about that?
DrDon5 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - All of the facts in the video are researched and verified. For example, according to the Institute of Medicine (non-profit, non-political), there were 22,000 deaths last year from lack of health insurance, making it the 6th leading cause of death. As for dental, SB 840, the single payer bill in CA, would cover dental care 100%, as well as all medical care, prescriptions, hospitalization, vision care, labs, therapies, and much more. And it would cost less than we are paying now. Read the bill.
DrDon5 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The plan would be phased in over at least a 2 year period in California, starting, as you say, with medical care. Treatments would be managed by physicians who would be provided with a formulary that recommends what's most effective. The political obstacle is the insurance industry, not treatment methods. They are skimming 30% off the top of every insurance dollar, making a fortune at our expense, and buying politicians. But politicians need votes more than money, so join the cause!
AdrienneGrey Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - "This will never work."Except that it works in every other industrialized nation on Earth. The U.S. health care system costs up to DOUBLE per person compared to other countries, and we get LESS for it, while 45 million go uninsured.Remember: whenever you hear "this will never work," the insurance industry is investing millions and millions of dollars on propaganda to make sure you fall for that.*****A

Jul 26, 2008 - Funny, the terms socialists come up with to disguise their agenda. SINGLE PAYOR = SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. Very clever. You know they picked "Single Payor" to "stress efficiency", whereas you know that this is about "getting something for free ... letting someone else pay". Socialized medicine is mostly about Socialism and Dependism / Flakism.
DrDon5 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Single payer has become the de facto term for universal, publicly financed, privately delivered health care. No one 'picked' it. In fact, if you have a better term, we'll use it. Most of us involved in the struggle for single payer are Democrats, but there are many conservative supporters, too. We have no hidden agenda. We want better health care for all. And single payer is not free. Everybody pays in according to their means, everybody receives care according to their needs. Watch the video.
digitalcurry Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - What's wrong with medicine not for profit. Police, fire are not for profit. You have a problem with that? I am sure you are an ideologue, or perhaps you are a shill for the drug companies. I do not believe you watched the video in full. Because if you had, you'd see everyone pays less overall because this is the only system that cuts cost.

Jul 26, 2008 - Now, let's look at size: The USA has 226,000 more active troops, 11 times more aircraft carriers, 5 times more cruisers, 3 times more destroyers, 3 times as many frigates, about double the number of nuclear submarines, about 1.5 times as many fighter aircraft
