He ONLY pointed out the demise of Rock N Roll when hair bands such as Poison and the Nelson Bros were making the genre less credible with that "conformed" image of wearing tights with hair only Farrah Fawcett can envy. That & the fact that the music in the LATE 80s, circa '87-'89 was beginning to wane to the likes of C&C Music Factory, MC Hammer, & other Techno Euro artists/bands. Tupac brought rap into the mainstream radio but only really lasted 2-3 yrs

Jul 7, 2008 - & rap in the 80s was ruled by East coast artists such as Run DMC, LL Cool J, Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff, MC Lyte, and Queen Latifah, etc.. THey all had air time but it didnt quite "blow up" until later in the 90s when it was revamped in the West led by Dr Dre & Ice Cube. As far as grundge & rap ruling the 90s together, I would have liked to have seen Kurt & Tupac collaborate on something together musically. We can only imagine it now or see it happen in heaven
