Free jazz at its best 40 years ago. Keith Jarret on Petrof concert piano, Jack de Johnette on drums and Ron McClure on bass in Prague. The short video was taken from Czech TV. I added the opening title and equalized the sound.

Oct 10, 2008 - he's gotta be tripping on acid right there

mortcola Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - he was trippin' on music. his fingers were working too good for it to be acid.

catalystdrums123 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - very valid point

mortcola Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - thank you. acid has enhanced my point-making abilities. I am to thinking Keith Jarrett is to pianism. but Jack DeJohnette won't take my calls.

Oct 10, 2008 - Tal vez el más grande improvisador de todos los tiempos...

BrettCelinski Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Jarrett's my favorite pianist right now. DeJohnette my favorite drummer. I'm still fairly green to jazz but to my ears he sounds like a genius.

darkhurd Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - I went to one concert of his in Ohio in the late 70's..He was more subdued that night.:(I feel like I just now heard and seen what all the fuss was about! This is so great! Thanks for posting this..I'm blown away!

Oct 10, 2008 - If you watch this video without the sound,You will see the man who struggle with the piano eats his fingers...

nondor13 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - dude, you're psychedelic.

futboler454 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - He hasn't improved in 40 years?

fregot Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Music is music. Either it's great or not. Improving has nothing to do with creating. If technique and speed is how you judge music, why not get into sports instead.

klausknulp Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - obviously should be a sort of free jazz?! big show, poor quality. i heard him playing bach prel and fugue and it was amazing! but this video is redicioulous, however - today keith is an extraordinairy artist.

Oct 10, 2008 - Thanks for posting this.Jarret is a "dionysian", not exactly what I´d call an "apollonian" artist. He´s probably my favourite pianist, although he has an overly-dramatic way to express himself. I think his purpose is the search of beauty, every time he plays.
