Nov 21, 2008 - I see UTube is double posting my comments again this week, sorry. Anyway, Hitler did not have a world-beating army, his surface navy was destroyed every time it went to sea, and the Luftwaffe had no strategic arm. When 80 He 177s were used by KG 1 on July 20, 1944 against Russian targets their fuel consumption represented a full days output of the entire German oil industry at that time ("German Aircraft of WW2" isbn 0-85177-836-4 page 289). I've spent 43 years studying this.

Nov 21, 2008 - No, lucky for us Hitler was a nutter. If he had left the soviet union and just taken wester europe and worked on the amerika bomber project then he would have won. Three cheers for nut jobs"

Nov 21, 2008 - WOW! thanks GDhouston. Just watched the whole thing. Finally something exciting to watch... I was getting tired watching minor western front operations getting portrayed on the same scale as the eastern front operations. Just the NUMBERS on the eastern front makes my head spin. Thanks again, 5/5 . Keep up the good work. Expecting more eastern front battles from ya. Later...

Nov 21, 2008 - Romanian war aims were not just the recapture of Bessarabia and Bukovina (not Moldova as stated in this film) which had been lost in 1940. In order to compensate for the loss of Transylvania to Hungary, Romania expected territory to and including Odessa.See literature on Romanian war aims.Other than that, excellent analysis.

Nov 21, 2008 - are the 'battlefields' series a british or american production? although the commentator clearly is british, the whole thing seems quite american-made to me (they're doing the old Liebstandarte glitch again, that's so embarrassing). this one's interesting to watch, though. just read the excellent osprey campaign title 'sevastopol' and this documentation seems to get most things right. thanks for the upload - much appreciated!

Nov 21, 2008 - Has anyone noticed that the 11th(XI) army roman numeral is misrepresented with the roman numeral 6(VI). Great series though! Thanks for posting all these great battles.

Nov 21, 2008 - i was looking for 1854 war in Crimea, but this is really interesting too. The place is still littered with spent cartridges from WW2 making metal detector work impossible on some parts of the battlefield for the 1854battles.

Nov 21, 2008 - Hmm, made me think. However, I believe he is a paratrooper or Fallschirmjäger. Their helmets were very different, for instance the M38 Fallschirmjäger compared to the standard M42 German helmet, as well as their uniforms as far as I know.
32silvercoins Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - The German Paratroops had straight cut helmets and slightly baggy uniforms. Those also wore camo during many battles.
