Oct 11, 2008 - Domingo indeed has a very decent lyric voice when he was younger. But his lack of dedication to developing a solid technique, or lack of talent to develop one prevented him to harness the intrinsic beauty of his lyric voice. So he went on to artificially darken it. To me, he went downhill from there artistically. But he was a great commercial success thanks to his Machiavellian tactics and work ethic.

corellilover Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Agree in that, today he is known as just P, no LA, no SI, no DO.Still waiting for your explanation about the 3rd harmonic thing, I don´t think many singers know about acoustic science, not even Pavarotti himself.I only know about two harmonic tunings, i just didn´t know there was a third one, there´s no need to be ofensive.

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Pava did it naturally as he was gifted. People are just recently began understanding how complex his vocal production was although he made it look so easy. He was way ahead of his time.

wowyourgaiy Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - You're annoying as hell. If you're anything close or better than Domingo... prove it with a recording of your skill, not your ignorant and pathetic rants on YouTube.

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Wow-Before you ever open your mouth you might want to consider thinking first. You do not have to read what I am posting. You're also entitled to be uneducated, uninformed, and ignorant. Some of us are much more experienced and knowledgeable than you. Did that thought ever occur to you? Now get lost you little fiddlestick.

vyrtual007 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - was he suppossed to trip like that onstage? if not that was a great cover

berlinman46 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - You have not the first idea of what your talking about I suggest to you that you are a complete asshole from which you are talking from!!! Wise up you bell-end

berlinman46 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - My Message is for "theinquisitive4ever" best regards all Domingo Fans HAIL PLACIDO!!!!

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlin-I actually do. I have seen Domingo live, and know quite a few performances at which a good group of the audience walked out. I was also there when he was booed at the at the Met when was trying to conduct La Boheme while his protege was singing a mediocre transposed version of Rodolfo (just like his mentor MINGO (where's teh Do?). Now get lost you idiot!

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlin-Hail whomever you want. You'd be hailing to mediocrity and artistic prostitution. But that is nothing as compared to what your ancestors were hailing in the 1930s! Du vollgeschisseness Arschloch hau ab!

berlinman46 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - I think you will find that your the ignorant idiot I am not German as you suggest, but heh dont let your Racism get in the way of that!Placido Domingo is a dear friend of my Father and has been in our home Many times,as you must he is a great conductor, composer, singer and a very good pianist,it is quite obvious to me and the reaction from others on youtube that you are an imbicile and know next to nothing about music, get your facts right and stop being a RACIST and maybe learn to love yourself!

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlin-Wonderful. Then tell your father to tell MINGO (where's the Do?) that singing 130 roles is called operatic prostitution and shows his lack of respect for artistic excellence. Remind him that transposing entire roles by the dozens just for the sake of singing them is not considered good artistry. And tell him that promoting second class Mexican tenors as superstars is the true racism. Should I continue you little fiddlestick?

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlin-Actually, you're wrong across the board. Domingo is trying to conduct and is being ridiculed for his piss poor performances which parallels his singing. And when he tried composing, what he produced was good fodder for laughter. Domingo even succeeded in getting booed at the Met which is known to be a very tolerant audience. He managed to mess up La Boheme. Get your facts straight you little fiddlestick!

berlinman46 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - theinquisitive4ever guy is a self-loathing goon!! with half-thought half-baked ideas about singing and music ,Please Ignore this Buffoon and wharever he say`s, if he lived in UK we would have him Sectioned ie ..."Sent to the Funny Farm...HA HA !!!

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlinman-Before characterizing my ideas as half-baked, you might want to consider the idea that you, yourself, is half-baked and the buffoon. Do you even read the nonsense you type? By the way, I live in the UK for a while, so spare me the British BS. Feel free to opine about Domingo in a substantive manner. I doubt you can elaborate on any point! If it weren't for intellectual midgets, Domingo wouldn't have sold as many tickets to his mediocre performance!

viniciusmanara Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Bravo!

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlinman46-So you're a British wanker. So your father has been friends with a hispanic tenor who has spent his life on operatic prostitution, ethnocentric promotion of Mexican tenors, the King of Transposed Roles and Flat Notes. In case you missed it: Mingo was a joke as a composer and conductor. He succeeded in getting booed at the Met which is a very tolerant audience normally. Well his pedestrian singing doesn't warrant further commentary.

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlinman46-British Wanker. Mingo (where's the B4; we gave up on the Do?)'s follower are the hooligans of the opera world. A good fraction of his followers are hispanic/latino in origin and support him the same was they support their national team. I am sure as a British wanker you'd know very well what hooliganism is. So the comments of the Domingo hooligans do not mean anything. Populist opinion seldom has any value.

TheInquisitive4Ever Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Berlin-British wanker. Tell Mr. Domingo that singing 130 roles is nothing but artistic prostitution and shows his lack of respect to artistic excellence. Also remind him that he's wasting his time ins trying to be a Bernstein of sorts. Lenny was a musical genius. Domingo is an excellent used car salesman of the opera world. Now get lost you clueless little fiddlestick.

tonyantony1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Note the inquisitor lacks so much musical knowledge and abilities, his ear is so untrained that he suggested the high note in the Rigoletto duet ''Addio addio'' sung by Pavarotti and Scotto in 1966 was a high D while it was a high D-flat,half a step lower than he suggested.A simple proof of his lack of sufficient musical skills.

tonyantony1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - He criticizes Domingo for transposing parts while he can't understand any difference between transposed and untransposed pieces of music since his sense of pitch is not sufficiently good.

Guercoeur Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Bravo, 100 times better than Pavarotti who had a thin voice.

jezHB333 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - well I thought thew were both superb in their own way, say for example how Pavarotti hits the Bflat-G interval, and I like Domingo's drama

Webarton Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - LMAO HE TRIPS!! that definitely wasnt on purpose huahahaha that was damn hilarious

rossmcl177 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Yes. but what a pro - to keep it going, and not lose any of the intensity!
