Oct 11, 2008 - I, RKOdude360, have never felt so much pleasure in a piece of music. Philip Glass touches my soul like no-one has before. This music, although minimalist, is incredibly complexed and the dynamics are incredible.Branka Parlic plays this piece extraordinarily well.

Oct 11, 2008 - I'm going to disagree. She doesn't really destroy the piece as she is a women playing a piece originally made and played by a man. The hands are very different. Stylistically it sounds different... alot more soft.

Oct 11, 2008 - I think 1 and 5 are the best.

Oct 11, 2008 - I prefer the way Philip plays it... this is nice, but it just doesn't have the same feel...

CertusAnimadverto Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - You make it sound like you are a sexist, and just because she is a woman you like her performance of the piece. The criticism on this is not due to the fact that she is a woman, even if a man played it this way it would still befall the same criticism.

mbcurry1981 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Her hand movement is quite queer. Maybe her style of hand movement has changed to a more fluid movement since this playing. Her hand movement is probably due to overemphasizing the beauty and importance of classical/piano. Maybe some Kraftwerk would 'loosen' her up a bit.

Oct 11, 2008 - I think this is a great performance I watch it a lotI was enchanted the first time I saw It

spqromanus Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Great piece, but like others, I am used to the other version. This is too clean and soft. The way Glass plays it is.....well the way he plays it sends a message by itself. Whereas this version simply portrays the song perfectly, Glass's version reinforces it.

JAIMELEMUSIC Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - This is just beautiful. I had never heard of Philip Glass until I looked Yann Tiersen up on Wikipedia, where Tiersen is compared to Glass. I'm glad I did because this piece is so pretty. How moving!

idontcarewhy Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - is this minimalism?

Inouekirosaki Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Without any doubt - this is a masterpiece. The composition and the performance are inimitable. Would like to buy the DVD if available. Thanks for sharing and NOT deleting this fantastic video.

crazypianolady Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Do you think the pianist will completely memorise the song and the sheet music is there just for a guide? When I play I always seem to put more into a song if I'm not looking at music....

Lasquoi Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Erik Satie should be proud..!

Cheri9724 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Im gonna say that Philip Glass is one of my favorite composers and I totally love metamorphosis 2 bt i jus feel this one is really repeatative...I loved the beginning and the dymanics there bt it jus kept doing the same thing...watever Branka Parlic is amazing for playing piano

WKaliber1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - i wonder if Glass will be regarded as a great composed few decades from now

aelita909 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - philip glass's music is so entrancing... its almost intoxicating

socaltrumpet83 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - You don't think Glass has already been regarded a great composer? I may not be as familiar with Glass as I am with masters like Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Bach among others, but Glass is responsible for bringing minimlism as one of the stand out genres of modern music. Plus, can you say Mozart was nominated for an Oscar for best original score? No, but Glass was nominated twice. Once for "The Hours" and I forget the other one, but otherwise he is an amazing composer to be well remembered.

WKaliber1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - there were no oscars back then

socaltrumpet83 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - No shit, Sherlock. Who cares about awards for composers these days anayway? no one really pays attention to classical music anymore unless you're john williams. And even with that, people would just recognize the theme to a movie he wrote the score for and not his name.

WKaliber1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - so why the fuck did you bring this up Plus, can you say Mozart was nominated for an Oscar for best original score? No, but Glass was nominated twice?its invalid

socaltrumpet83 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Just enjoy the music. At least there's other people on this planet besides you and I who appreciate this form of art. Screw what others think. Just enjoy and appreciate what someone slaved over for weeks, months, if not years, so that we can sit back, listen, and say "Hey, that was great."

WKaliber1 Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - i dont really like glass that much, except for Luther and Einstein on the beach I never listened to him much, except in soundtracks
