Jul 26, 2008 - I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fairbanks is a place that is very tangibly colder. I enjoyed this video and it helped me to get a feel for this amazing place in the world with its severe continental climate and probably wonderful inhabitants. I hope Fairbanks is never very large. That could only happen if Al Gore's stark predictions are ever a reality. Do you currently live in Fairbanks?

Jul 26, 2008 - holy shit are u tryin to ruin the economy of this city?......jesus our town isnt as dreary as this video makes it out to be, theres actually people and houses and even cars

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks to adding to the misconception that Fairbanks ak is a bunch of cabins in a frozen wasteland. Maybe the frozen wasteland part is true, but its just like any other modern city. It seems most movies and videos commercially produced perpetuate this image. That we live in cabins and igloos, or tents? Sounds funny, but more people outside than you probably think actualy believe this. More fitting title, Camping in Alaska's back country, not Fairbanks.

Jul 26, 2008 - This movie makes me sad. I have lived in Fairbanks for 3.5 yrs and this is what I thought my life would be like when I moved here. Its not. I need to change that. Great music, and the run down the Delta looks like fun.

Jul 26, 2008 - Man the Big AK rules. I used to live there and I am going back up there next september for college. The snow machining, fishing, hunting, parasailing, the people are awesome. They have malls, movie theatres, and resturants just like everyone else. I have been all over the earth and have not come across a place more beatiful than Alaska. Its truly an expirience that will change your life.Fairbanks is insane I will not lie. Try to move south of innerstate 3. (Wasilla, Anchorage, Homer ect)

Jul 26, 2008 - NOTE: Not all folks living in Alaska live in shacks and look like granola crunchers. I attended school in FBKS from 1979-88. Here's what I learned living in FBKS. Theres one week during July worth even stepping foot in that town. It's a crap hole. Bringing a family to FBKS to raise children, NOT the right thing to do. In fact, I think anybody who is IGNORANT enough to want to raise children in the FRIGID ARCTIC is INSANE and must be running from REALITY. STAY OUT OF FAIRBANKS
akcheshirecat Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - And that is why we're glad you left. Hate to say it, but the town changed a LOT since you left. Believe it or not, we have *gasp* electricity! And running WATER! Oh my! Hey, why don't you just stay where you are, b/c we're doing pretty well up here without you. And yeah, I'm typing this in IN Fairbanks, on a COMPUTER (oh my!) with cable internet. Thanks for leaving, hope to never see you!
omfgMOVE Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - You know, that message could work in favor of Alaskans. Less people wanting to move to Alaska means more beautiful to go around for others!I was happy to see your reply to maletradedup's post because I was personally offended to read it. I'm moving up there myself in a couple years. Not exactly Fairbanks but close to it. (Anchorage for a year and then maybe to Kenai or Sterling) And I hope to live there for the rest of my life which definitely includes marriage and raising my children there.
