TOMKingBold Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - It's hard for others to see beyond Lance's media image. I mean he cheated on his wife after she stayed with him through cancer.

8m9isok Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - go phil liget

Cwetko92 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - lance is the greatest

Phaedo7 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - who are we to judge his personal life unless you are a friend of his do not judge his personal life, because frankly you do not know him. Our only right, is to be a critic of his cycling career; that is all we truly know about him

Phaedo7 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - IT really was not that stupid of a move. If you knew the whole cont4ext of the situation you would have taken into consideration Armstrong and Simeoni were feuding at the time. Simeoni disrespected Armstrong, and Lance was only exercising his right as the 800lb Gorilla of the peloton to defend his honor and impose his will. To the victor goes to the spoils.

TOMKingBold Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - He's a cheat! It's as simple as that. If you want to turn a blind eye you can but I won't. Btw, I do have a couple connections armstrong.

Phaedo7 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - I have no problem with you calling him a cheat, that is a judgment in terms of his career, however, the fact you say he is a cheat is an opinion. I cannot condemn you for your opinions, because they are not supported by fact.

TOMKingBold Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - "not supported by fact"I do know that it's a fact but this is not the forum to give details nor do I want to say as this involves friends. I will say, that this is not black and white. What really is "a cheat"? If most riders are using banned drugs and/or grey-area drugs who's he really cheating? Fact: Lance did drugs though "drugs" is such a general term than you will ever know!

Oct 10, 2008 - The images match exactly what has been written about Lance back in that time: a Bulkie-body builder figure-almost unconventional for cycling-with a chopping-like pedaling-but incredibly strong to beat the competition...and couple years after this race-he "becomes" somebody else....

nrf000 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - 5'10'' 165 lbs. is not exactly a bulky body builder figure.... and he "became" somebody else because of cancer... he just didnt gain the weight back after recovery... i dont know whether or not he cheated, but your comment does not make any sense

kesteckb Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Doping doesn't allow you to accomplish anything more than hard work, it just makes it easier, and Lance never did anything the easy way, he didn't train the easy way and he didn't win the easy way.

richter75 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Thanks for this, i was there this day. Terrible crashes when ppl had been using paint that dissolved in water in the descents at ekeberg ;).

Flanyker Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - He was 21 years old, and came from a background of triathlon. You ever see a triathlete? Yeah, big upper body. Helps for a thing called SWIMMING. Putz. Same thing for guys who were coming out of track cycling. Huge bulky bodies, built for POWER and SPEED. He was a sprinter for the first 3 years. But give a guy 5 years in the peleton and he'll trim down. And don't forget the cancer thing, or don't you believe that he'd lose weight then? He 'became' the greatest because of hard work.

Rkeezy32 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - More around 5'10" 173 lbs. back in 93. If you look at all the riders in the protour there are almost none with bmis that high, and if they do have one that high they are pure sprinters or classics riders.

Rkeezy32 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - I feel whether he doped or not is irrelevant. Almost anyone he ever beat in the top ten at the tour has been caught doping, so even if he did dope he was still stronger than the rest. It's unfair to place all the focus on the winner of the race if 50% or more of them are doping. If nobody doped Armstrong would still have one 7 times

TOMKingBold Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - I 100% agree! Though the video is about Armstrong and that's why we were discussing him specifically.

macdonaldjohnd Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - The crew who resurfaced the course, days before the worlds didnt care about pro cyclists, or elite cycling! Big stupid mistake, they fell like they were turning on oil spills!

macdonaldjohnd Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - The kid hammers, plain and simple. He made a HUGE mark with his natural pro like animal strength from a real young age, so much that his presence always made a space of 2 riders.(imagine being in top form, punchin the hills in the big ring, and Lance comes around you like your on a stroll, and hes the motorcycle)

jimplicity Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Thanks for posting that video. I've read about that win in Oslo and how Lance showboated at the end...but ti watch it is something else. Lance is legend.

steinbra Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Oslo at its best!! What a weather! At this time cycling was not a very popular sport in Norway, as you can tell by the lack of a crowd along the last 5 km of the course. Home favourite Dag Otto Lauritzen led the race for a long time, and raised some norwegian eyebrows. Now cycling is picking up, with Thor Hushovd regularly winning stages in the TdF. Should we ever get the world championships again I think it would be a much better event. Note Bjarne Riis, TDF winner to be, is also in there.

JaahJeMoeder Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - riise is danish and never won the tdf since he doped it

Chrisesset88 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Thanks for posting!!! +++++

mustardjunkie Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Mr. 60% getting his ass handed to him.

JRoca79 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - One of my favourite Lance Armstrong race.1º Lance Armstrong....2º Miguel Indurain.Lance before cancer was a really great rider.
