The closest America came to being socialist was under FDR who employed Keynesian economics. also, I wouldn't say democracy doesn't work. the people need to have a voice. the form of democracy the video is talking about is direct democracy employed by ancient athens.

Our government is a representative democracy which works to counter the majority rule which would be direct democracy something our forefathers pointed out in the federalist papers. It's false to say our founders thought democracy was corrupt when in fact that was not the case since the nation they built is a democratic republic.

Usually its the other way around, people who hate liberty and free markets typically force their twisted beliefs on the populous under the guise of equality and socialism. Then those people speak or act out against the new government are eliminatd. This has been the model of every attempt at pure socialism and why it will always result in tyranny and murder.
