Jul 7, 2008 - Just wanted to mentioned I never said grunge was metal, those are totally different genres but when grunge hit the scene, it took many metal fans with them, seems like metal and rock for that matter was never the same after that like def leppard, whitesnake, winger, poison, ratt, etc etc, they were replaced by stp, smashing pumpkins, pearl jam, etc but now they are no longer in then it was linkin park, etc, now its something else happening

Jul 7, 2008 - Sure but in both rock and metal there's evolution going on to the genres which goes unnoticed because they're not played in your local radio. Particularly Scandinavian metal -for example- has revolutionized heavy metal but it mostly goes unnoticed to US as much as in most of Europe, but the genre surely has not been put into a halt.

Jul 7, 2008 - I was not saying that, I was only complaining to the proportion of bad rap to good rap, something that does not happen to mainstream rock as much and most NU "metal" is being ridiculed by anyone who's not in his teens anyhow. Unfortunately it seems to be ONLY that (even if -as you said- there are good rappers out there), at least rock leaves space for good stuff and metal even is elitist (metal guys would never call NU "metal" to be metal or any metalcore for that matter to be so).
