Six of the rare forest ghosts live in Humboldt Redwoods State Park near Eureka, California. Lacking chlorophyll, their white needles seem to glow. Here's a Canadian radio interview with the park's visitor center spokesman. For more, go to redwoods.info

Jul 26, 2008 - Cool, My buddies and I hiked around almost all day looking for those things. I got the honor to see the two he mentions at the end. The 60 foot tree is the second largest albino tree in the word. We went back a few years later but never could find them again.

Jul 26, 2008 - Looks like Humboldt State needs to get on the ball to properly inform people-local-about the white redwoods-Alumni

Jul 26, 2008 - you can find one in the womans federation grove when you turn into the exit/ road the first place that looks like you could park a car on the left and still leave room for a car to pass stop their.-many blessings and good luck

Jul 26, 2008 - directions continued- now on the opposite side of the road/trail you will notice a trail. not a designated trail but worn by human traffic( the same direction as the river). now walk about 30 feet and look behind you to your left (the albino tree is behind another larger redwood.) now say a prayer for whats left of the redwood. better yet act on that prayer!

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks for the nice comment, heavenismyhome. Have a question for you. Can you tell me more about this? "CNN had something on the news about Humboldt County and a youtube video"Do you know when the story aired and what it was about exactly? Thanks, Redwoodcoaster.

Jul 26, 2008 - it was on today, don't remember which of the big news channels though..they were showing youtube videos, and one of them was showing a video about something in Humboldt County, so i came to youtube to check it out, and then when i saw the list of other stuff from Humboldt County, i saw yours. it's so wonderful, i lived here all my life and never even heard of them. now, they are a must see--must get photos of them. ;) i can't wait!

Jul 26, 2008 - i think they keep the location,s secret because they are so rare and some people might want to cut them down you can,t trust everybody to leave them be.

Jul 26, 2008 - If there are more, I would not be surprised if I find one. Many areas have not been explored yet. For people who enjoy redwoods, I'm promoting a webpage on the largest redwoods known - but they are undisclosed. Same titan redwoods as written about in the book The Wild Trees. It had no photos and just drawings. So after I located the groves, I posted some nice size images. The album link is on my page. URLs don't seem to work here. Google "mdvaden" and "grove of titans" - you will find the page.

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks! I have observed people breaking off 'little' peices of this tree for two years now. There is no way I would ever disclose the location.

Jul 26, 2008 - Hi, thank you for sharing so many awesome photos on your website. As much as I love to hike ... there are places I don't even want to know about. The recent Hyp. tree, is one. Some places are just left best unsaid, to protect them.

Jul 26, 2008 - I know where the first one shown is located. I go there all the time! So pretty :) My hometown is so cool ;)

Jul 26, 2008 - Just visited one today, and, yes, they are hidden. Dave Stockton (being interviewed) is the historian for Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and is an amazing, articulate man. The State is lucky to have him.
