Jul 26, 2008 - She was my Idol.

lujas10 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Not Knocking you, but why? Great singer no doubt!!!

hrksilgfofhgut Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I really dont know except that when she sang, she made me feel really good. I was very young then and even though I didnt know she was gay and I was, maybe there was a hold she had on me. I never stopped listening to her music. I have lots of her old LPs.

fjkseattle Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - i got into her from my mother listening to her. Even though it was not the genre I usually listen to, I was captivated by her elegance. I did not know she was gay either, it is ashame that she had to keep it a secret for all her life. Women like her are hard to come by nowadays..

hrksilgfofhgut Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Back then everyone had to keep it a secret. Society dictated it. I loved her come back with The Pet Shop Boys..What Have I Done To Deserve This.

Jul 26, 2008 - I GLADD WITH DUSTY Y YOU weirdalfan1980, FOR THIS SONG, MAKE ME FEEL AGAIN, I ALIVE.

faquzp Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - that´s a wonderful voice. muy buen tema

GoldfishNation Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Yikes! She sounds like she's about to hurl any minute. Another painful listen from a hugely overrated lesbian.

madeapus1 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This song really captures the complexities of love. I find something quite tragic about this song. It's like one of her lovers has denied that they were ever involved with her and Dusty is questioning what he/she must be feeling when they are by themselves. (Thats just my take on it). Great song and beautifully sung.

oa1oa2 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - great song,from a great singer

VinDcator Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - As beautiful as ever! Probably the best British female singer that ever lived.

Thinribs Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - are u for real? dont bother listening

GoldfishNation Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Am I for real? Very much so (as is your inability to construct grammatically proficient sentences). Are you suggesting I touch myself in order to find out? Pervert! She also looks like she was made-up by a mortician in that clip. Nyyyaaaaaaaoooow gunna get thruuuooh. Bless.

270ambrose Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - A very eloquent misogynist who probably wears vibrant leisure wear and drinks pints standing at the bar with his mates, and has the rib waiting with his tea when he gets after a hard day on his tractor!

GoldfishNation Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I'm also double-jointed, big boy.call me xx

270ambrose Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Your abilities no no bounds a hyperextensiblewanker as well !

trschaefer Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This is a really great song. Dusty looks & sounds wonderful. I think that the lyrics (and the fact that there aren't any men in the video..) are a sly and subtle admission of Dusty's lesbianism. The difference between "What you're gonna sayIn private" and "And what you're gonna doIn public". Dusty's sexuality was never an issue for her. I think at last, she felt she could incorporate her sexuality openly into her art, without worrying about the effect on her career.

scotsdriver Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Brilliant song. Dusty looks fantastic in her video's. An absolute legend.

Timmybear Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Gee, I hadn't thought of that. The lack of men in the video might very well BE a statement (as a gay man who rarely notices other gay men (ick, skinny hairless things ;) ), I'm not the best at sussing out gender interpretations, mind you... ;) ).

trschaefer Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Thanks for sharing. The more that I listen to the lyrics of this song, the more I think that the idea has "legs"... Love the video!

Timmybear Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - and, of course, these days, even the conceivably cowardly reference to the beloved's going back to a wife needn't identify the beloved as male (not that it EVER did - one is reminded, somehow, of how everyone assumed the person Tracy Chapman ran away with in FAST CAR is male - there is not ONE gender identifier in the song...).

Timmybear Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I should add that I had assumed the song was coded lesbian - but I just didn't think about the video (which I'd only ever seen a couple of times - it wasn't a hit in North America, not even in Canada... :) ).

RangersTheFlop Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Timmy, the US/CA always had such a bad taste in music (lol). What a great woman and great song!

Timmybear Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Well, Canada's charts are usually closer to Britain's than the US's are, but this WAS fairly late in Dusty's career (I'm reminded of the time, during her lifetime, I went into a store to try and find her music and was told it would be in the oldies section - mind you, Jane Siberry's stuff was also in there, which was even odder...).
