Oct 11, 2008 - so, what exactly does the pale man do? whats his point of exsisting? i havent seen the movie, but i saw a preview with the pale man in it and it totaly freaked me out.
holyhell5050 Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - The Pale Man eats children. Asking his point of existing leads to a dead end since little is said about him in the film, which probably adds to his creepyness.Similar type of thing to why people find 'The Exorcist' a creepy story. Why would the Devil posess a young girl? The question seems absurd, until you reach the really creepy question of; why not?

Oct 11, 2008 - this is an absolutely amazing film! :Di love pan's outfit.
TheRandyChimp Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - i think his point of being alive is to be part of her test. Yes, he eats children, but she is tested on whether she is worthy of being the princess. by disobeying the rules, she provokes him into pursuing her.
Caldella Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - Doug Jones has to be one of the best actors ever, in regards to playing characters that feature heavy makeup/prosthetics like this.
WorldOfJane Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - DONT READ THIS IF YOU HAVNT SEEN THE FILM AND WANT TO!!right you know befor she gets shot the captin (dont know his name [Was it even said?]) He sees her talking to herself (she was "Talking " to the faun) So was the twist that non of it was real just in her mind (Even the endidng with the kingdom bit)
NeonLoveChicken1 Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - as you get to the end of the movie events show that the her fantasy actually has to be real. ofelia is locked in her room which is guarded. yet somehow she manages to get to the captain's room to steal her brother. what explanation? only that she is holding the chalk. also del toro explains that the captain doesnt see pan because he just can't, it's not part of his adult world.

Oct 11, 2008 - im a guy and i think hes hot.
holyhell5050 Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - I like that idea, though I also think it's a little isolated to Pan's world. It could just as easily be that he exists and serves well as a test, the frog/toad in the tree isn't there simply to test Pan (and if he is then there must have been as many of them as there were children's shoes piled up in the Pale Man's banquet hall). You could speculate endlessly as to what his purpose is - the Pale Man could be captive and bound to the room with magic for the purpose you describe.
TheRandyChimp Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - granted, that occured to me when i finished typing. the shoes, maybe he is just a sick freak, who, in the underworld, is the equivilant of a kidnapper. exept, as its a magical and mystical place, hes a monster and he eats children.
pocky047 Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - I idolise this guy.
jonirichardson Says:
Oct 11, 2008 - yeah he did, but they did a voice-over anyway. he said the lines in spanish, but they just used a spanish voice actor so that it sounded completely natural to a spanish audience. i think.
