Jul 7, 2008 - I love this piece. It has one of the best harmonies I've ever heard.

Jul 7, 2008 - The reverance of this music is amazing. I beleive that we should have this music in every Mass like the 'old days'. These praises truly gave devotion and glory to the One God, as well as confirming our important theology and doctrine. The 'modern' music has certainly got young people in the crowd going. I am 19 but would prefer the Gregorian hymns any day to rock and roll. The new hymns just dont glorify God as they should. We must sing out of reverance toward the Lord, not for our own enjoyment

Jul 7, 2008 - then dig out your earwax because it's inhibiting you from hearing this wonderful music through the distortion.

gunblader928 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - this piece was never intended for use in mass, it was part of an Oratorio called "Messiah"either way, i agree that the old-world sounding choirs are the best...wait a minute! are you saying you're church choir is a rock band? *winces*

Jul 7, 2008 - I love rock songs... But classics like this is my first love... This song is really part of history... Classic..

chance1172 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - OK. Far be it from me to dis Handel, I think that the Messiah is his crowning glory. And I love it, I've sung it, my parents have sung it in a large choir setting. You have to know though that Handel did not come up with this on his own. He stole some of the best old-testament passages and put them to music. He was musically a genius but he was no songwriter. I say again, I love The Messiah but Handel essentially took the Bible and broke it up into songs. Enjoy.

Jul 7, 2008 - Haha...of course he took the text from the bible...that's what choral music is.

mathildec75 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Classic but so extraordinary! Eternal music! For the glory of God !Thanks

dolofonos Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - You idiot: Handel didn't even write the libretto for the Messiah, he only wrote the music. Furthermore, to say that he broke the Bible up into songs is about as stupid as stating that a play about an event is merely the event broken up into acts--of course it is, Einstein. What did you expect him to do: make up his own 'Bible' about some imaginary place and then have the oratorio sung in a Christian church?

dolofonos Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - In any event, chance1172, you are an idiot to belittle Handel, a composer of music, for his use of unoriginal _lyric_--it may near as well be commented that he didn't invent the instruments used in the orchestra, either... what a fiend!

chance1172 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - You're right. That was a stupid comment on my part, thank you for calling me out. I apologize, I didn't meant to belittle Handel, it was definitely not what I hoped to do. I love his work and I should not have opened my metaphorical mouth.

Jul 7, 2008 - I wonder how many people really know the definition of Hallelujah. Hallel, means to praise and Jah is a poetic form of the name Jehovah. I did some research on the Hallelujah Chorus for a music class in college for an oral report. I found that in the original manuscripts of the Bible it is found more than any other name almost 7,000 times. The Websters Unabridged Dictionary noted that many of the names in Hebrew use Jehovah as part of the definition of the names found in the Bible.

Jul 7, 2008 - Now this is Pure classical music!
