Jul 7, 2008 - when you wrap your fingers around the grip, the tips of your fingers should just barely touch or nearly touch the palm of your hand. If there is a big gap, your grips are too big and you should get smaller grips so that your hands can work together more easily.

Jul 7, 2008 - I don't think you can know too much, but I do think you can think too much when at the course. It's great to understand why the ball responds in certain ways so you can achieve better control or correct mistakes quickly, but you also need to be able to focus properly during execution.

Jul 7, 2008 - You explain how to hold the club then the weak/neutual/strong. Do therefore combine the too together ie control with strong?Ive been having problems with hook/draws with irons but hit my driver straight with a little fade

Jul 7, 2008 - Important question! If your goal is to bring the clubface through impact square to the target, then, if you have a strong or weak grip, your clubface will be closed or open at impact. Do you assume that that this address grip is the way your hands will pass through impact? Are these grips compensating for swing flaws and allow the face to be square at impact? Thanks

Jul 7, 2008 - I am very familiar with this. It also applies to many other issues in life. I have called it "Paralysis by analysis". There is a short video in here under "Golf humor" where a pro speed talks about all the moves in a golf swing in 1:03 minutes. He demonstrates the complexity of the swing humorously. Check it out!

Jul 7, 2008 - grips can do a number of things.1. increase distance if you put the club more in your fingers or increase consistency and accuracy if you place the grip more in your palm.2. if your goal is to have a square clubface at impact, you alter the grip toward weak or strong based on whether you are currently hitting a hook or a slice, which can compensate (somewhat) for flaws in your swing.3. intentionally want the ball to draw or fade? you can use a stronger or weaker grip also to do that.

Jul 7, 2008 - I've seen it and it's very funny. The important thing in golf is that you understand the consequences of specific actions so that when you want to acheive a different result with the golf ball, you have an idea how to accomplish it.
AGameGolf Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - yes, you pick a weak/neutral/strong grip which is how much your hand is rotated around the grip and you also decide how the grip is held in the fingers for distance or in the palm for control.

Jul 7, 2008 - just buy the leadbetter grip aid for a proper grip. this guy is out of control.
AGameGolf Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Many pros teach different variations of the grip. This video if for those people who are interested in knowing what effect those variations have so they can customize their grip to fit their own needs. If you are comfortable with they way Leadbetter teaches the grip then great. There are many more grip aids than Leadbetters that are just as good and much cheaper as well.

Jul 7, 2008 - over lap
tenorplayermike Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - that means your lower body is moving ahead of your upper and when that happens your club face opens up and "slices" across the ball so try throwing your upper body first and your lower should catch up
C0N0R7878 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - thanks you were right about that

Jul 7, 2008 - I think I'm crossing two different grips. For example, the shaft of the club runs off the very edge of my left index finger, I try to keep it as far out of the palm as possible and keep it netural, but my right hand (hands are small) are having a hard time to overlap, I hit the ball descent but not as pure as I'd like. I'm wondering if by keeping it so far down on my fingers of my left hand I'm actually losing distance with the overlap and the way I'm keeping it so far down.
