Jul 7, 2008 - Sorry, but this is a myth--the reporter who started it did not actually go out and check. His information about Amish medical practices was in error. It has since been shown that most Amish actually vaccinate at a *higher* rate than the mainstream population--there are clinics in Pennsylvania, Illinois and other states with high concentrations of Amish families to cater to this community, which is where this data came from. There are also autistic Amish children.

Jul 7, 2008 - This is stupid, the idea that metals cause autism is a myth, studies have not found any proof. I am autistic and I am living a full life, I am a college graduate, I have a job, a house, and I am getting married. In order to be like everyone else you 'have' to be different, because 2 people are not the same. We are not social because we do not feel like it, so doctors have to call it a illness because they think is unnatural.

Jul 7, 2008 - I'm a father of an autistic child. We noticed nothing until after his shots. If it turns out that the shots cause this then there is going to be Hell to pay. If that's the reason, then there isn't anything they can do to make it right. There isn't any amount on money, there isn't anything. Please God, let this not be caused by a vaccinne.
chibicat13 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - You never noticed nothing until after his shots because you cannot diagnose autism until the child is a little over a year, many of these shots are given when you are a few months old. So there is still no proof that vaccines caused it. It would be terrible for a child to die from a illness that can be prevented in the first place. I am all for the vaccines.

Jul 7, 2008 - Autism is NOT a disease, that denotes impairment of BODILY FUNCTIONS, Autism is a NEUROLOGICAL DISORDER.If you're going to 'enlighten' people on this topic, which I laugh at considering what's in here, then at least get the DEFINITION right.
Pizzahedd Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - wow. unbelievable. look at the interview about the mercury poisoning and how to solve this.
AlaskaFarewell Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - No, it's BS, the medical research doesn't back that 'mad child disease' theory.

Jul 7, 2008 - my sister is autistic
isthisautism Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - My son was recently hospitalized with a respiratory problem and extremely high fever. The Hospital didn't know exactly what was wrong with him but he was released a couple days later. Since then he has been showing some autistic tendencies and won't really make eye contact. He used to say dada and has pulled away. I didn't think of the connection between the high fever and the new symptoms but he had just gotten his vaccinations a little bit before the hospitalizations.

Jul 7, 2008 - how old is he they get it at a young as (from what ive seen)
sarahhurwitz Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Nonsense. Autism is genetic. Don't waste your time with these foolish alternative therapies. Look for evidence-based therapies (ABA, Pivotal response training, verbal behavior, etc). There is no thimerisol in vaccines anymore yet rates of autism continue to rise. There is no relationship between mercury and autism.
lizzie1979 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - My son was recently diagnosed with autism and no one else in my family has it so how can it be genetic?
sarahhurwitz Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - That's the way recessive genes sometimes work; it takes the particular combination of your son's genetics to produce the disorder. I feel for your family and wish you the best in finding treatment for him. There is no magic cure, just lots of hard work but so many children learn to talk and socialize that with good therapists, you can be successful.
sacredmama7 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - there are alot of other toxins in vaccines other than mercury(thimerisol), what about the aluminum?
sacredmama7 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - I wish they would have focused more on what the parents did to treat thier children's autism..
AlaskaFinal Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - I get it from REAL doctors, not asswhipes looking for attention on National television, the ones whom I see PERSONALLY because I' AM AUTISTIC.'nuff said.
elucidatus Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Nuff Said? My Next door neighbor has Autism and he just wanted me to reply to you that you are an asswipe. He cannot speak but uses sign language very well and he also just gave you the middle finger... We all Were laughing our fuckin asses off!!!!!!
AlaskaFinal Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Doesn't matter what you or your friend says, the Mercury theory has been proven to be bogus. I don't care if you don't believe me, though you and your friend are unfortunate for still buying into it.Call me what you will, I know the science behind it, and that though it may have been a good theory at first, it doesn't add up. I'm sorry if that takes away some hope your friend has, but like me, he's stuck as he is, and better learn to deal with it if he hasn't already.
vaporgenie Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - There are many sources of mercury other than vaccines. Also, vaccines contain adjuvants that create inflammation that may cause autism. Amish never get autism, and never get vaccines.
wolverine02007 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - It's caused by vaccines? It is a disease?Another form of eugenics and another source tomake a money making scheme off of the ignorance and fears of the (sheeple) people.By the way, I was diagnosed with ADHD/Autism at the age of 4, prior to 1976.... The vaccines is not the catalyst which produces autism. If vaccines did rewire the brain on a neurological level like they claim, Would you then think they would seek some sort of means to exploit this to the public for monetary gain?
royalsteven Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - I can't speak for everyone but generally speaking sugar & milk products are bad for your health system. Especially sugar wich is like poison for your brain. Glute-free food probiotica & vitamine supplements (C, B12) cure and strengthen your body and mind.
