Oct 12, 2008 - Well which one of Martin Luthers thousands of stster faiths is the right one? You had better think long and hard about it.

Oct 12, 2008 - One thing that i learned is that the bible says that there is only one church...not churches. I am a christian and i do not categorize myself in any denomination. Not even non-denominational. I am just a faithful soilder of Christ who follows the word of God with SPIRITUAL interpretation thanks to the Holy Spirit.

Oct 12, 2008 - St. James said that faith without works is dead. God's grace empowers us to become obedient to God's instructions. Grace alone is not a good way to contextualise the importance of salvation. Salvation came because of man's disobedience in the first place. Now that we have recieved salvation our duty by His grace is to follow God's will.
serenecounsel Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - You're missing the point. We don't preach "cheap grace". Jesus commanded us to love one another - "on this commandment hang all the law and the prophets". "Grace alone" means that no matter what we do, we cannot get ourselves into heaven. Jesus Christ paid the price of salvation. Nothing we can do can "save us".
Bobbyaf Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - That is exactly what you are doing, cheapening grace, because you fail to truly understand it. Paul says work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Grace doesn't mean one cannot think about what measure we aught to take to please God. Don't forget we have a choice. We are not robots. We must either choose to obey or disobey.
serenecounsel Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - *sigh* Quit it with your "holier than thou" attitude, seriously. Re-read what I wrote. I said WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO GET OURSELVES INTO HEAVEN. Not "do what you want and get away with it." We are still required to follow God's law - but we're not saved by LAW anymore. We're saved by the blood of Christ. What's the purpose of a death and resurrection if we can get ourselves into heaven?

Oct 12, 2008 - Martin Luther was a great man.He spoke out against the corrupt greedy Popes and the Talmud! He was a real muckraker !
GreenCures Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Yes! The ONLY thing we contribute to our salvation is our filthy sin. We must--in truth--comprehend what the gospel is. And we DON'T have a choice as relative to spiritual matters of "choosing to be saved or not"..God requirements, as Serene beautifully stated, to follow His Law has NOT been abolished! He is the same today & always. We are saved by a Grace holy, as God gave his ONLY son..(think about that if you have kids) Cheap grace? May it never be said of the work of His precious blood
GreenCures Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - ok, also the first 00:35 seconds of this video is CRUCIAL...this is key, it's the heart of the gospel.it's not like we're supposed to be running around, "what would Jesus do?" so we can run out and do it, in regard to being perpetually perfect in every way & every moment! Christ did it, that's why He said on the tree "It is finished"

Oct 12, 2008 - THIS GUY IS A MORONSORRY
Juice777222333 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Catholics are so deceived. Read HIS Word, and know what the truth is. Peter called himself a fellow elder. Mary said her spirit rejoices in GOD her SAVIOR. The thief on the cross did not partake of any sacraments - his faith saved him. Just as our faith saves us.
Juice777222333 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - The disciples drank the wine. JESUS didn't say not to drink the wine, because HIS BLOOD is in the Bread. You Catholics say you must take HIS Word literally, and you don't. Even when it comes to the most esteemed sacrament. Apparitions of Mary? The LORD says I will not give MY Glory to another. Satan can appear as an angel of light. Mary cannot impute any grace to us. Grace is a work of ALMIGHTY GOD.
Juice777222333 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - And HE gives it to whomever HE pleases. For HIS GLORY. The man is not a moron. Find a dictionary, and read the definition. If you want to call him a fool or a deceiver, go ahead. And don't apologize for it. I'm sure you would mean it. Do you always apologize for meaning waht you say? FYI, you're wrong about this man.

Oct 12, 2008 - My three prvious posts are a reply to njcatholic. For some reason, these comments would not post as replies. Therefore, they are obviously meant to be read in reverse order. Thank you, and have a good night.

Oct 12, 2008 - I was raised Catholic but i'm on the fence. Stay Catholic or become Protestant. I gotta say reading text from the King James bible as well as learning about Protestantism I'm leaning toward Protestantism.

Oct 12, 2008 - think carefully, being protestant wont save you, being roman catholic aint gonna do it either, these are just names, not even listed in the Bible, or uttered by our Lord.
guatay Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Prots deny Cath infallability yet follow prot leaders infallably. Since each prot denomination adheres to teachings of their respective leaders (Luther, Calvin, non-denominational preachers, ect...), those leaders r in effect their popes! Think about it! Prots obey the doctrine of the reformers as well as the johnny-come-lately preachers of the "church of what's happenin now" as if deviating from those teachings is heresy. If u don't think so, just ask a Baptist, JW, Mormon, Lutheran, etc.
guatay Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Prots tore books outa original Bible cuz they cramped prot style. II Maccabees 12:43-45: Judas Machabeus led military victory over Jewish enemies. Aft battle, Judas "sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection." And, "It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins." Put that into King James & c what happens to prot doctrine!
Maranatha80 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - guatay, you are misinformed. True Protestant Christians (which do not include JW, Mormons, etc) base all authority on Scripture (i.e. Sola Scriptura...scripture alone), not a preacher/pastor (I'm a Southern Baptist). Secondly, for the reasons for omission of the Deutero-canonical books find any 1611 KJV and it's right there in the intro. And if Catholic leaders of the 16th century had their way, you couldn't read a Bible of any kind in English. Love in Christ.
Maranatha80 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - I have to make a correction...I'm not sure about the 1611 version intro. I even read that Maccabees was included in it. But I do remember studying that, and the reasons for the apocropha not being included for a few: some contradicted the rest of scripture (like witchcraft), and inconsistancies like in Maccabees where he dies several different ways. Also, those books were not held as inspired by the early Christians.
aidandrew Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - William Cobbett'The Reformation was a devastation of England which was at the time when this event took place, the happiest country, perhaps, that the world had ever seen; but afterwards marched on Plundering, Devastating, & inflicting torments on the people, shedding their innocent blood;" "Abbeys, priories, nunneries, hospitals & other religious foundations confiscated by the Reformers, & Jews who brought to England the misery of pauperism through Usury"
guatay Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - Maranatha, the infallability issue isn't nullified in the face of the prot doctrine of Sola Scriptura. That is, most if not all, prot denominations adhere to Sola Scriptura & EACH HAS ITS PARTICULAR PERSONAL INTERPRETATION! WHAT!? Therefore, each prot denomination follows the teachings of the men who created their respective churches, effectively becomming pseudo popes. Scripture isn't of private intreptation, & only the church is the pillar/foundation of truth. Catholic: the original.
bezel333 Says:
Oct 12, 2008 - The theology of Martin Luther is nothing more than the theology of Jesus in the Gospels and Paul in Romans. Half the groups you mentioned couldn't define justification to save their lives. Get real, and say hi to the pope for me, I think he's cool.
