I have seen the prequel "Mango," that stars Jeff Goldblum working with Japanese scientists on a cloning experiment that goes wrong, way wrong when the monster escapes and then makes its way to New York City for the "Cloverfield" attack. The creature is more Jurassic Park than alien or supernatural, as you will learn in "Mango" next year.
