"Bridge Over Troubled Water" performed by Simon & Garfunkel in December 2003 in Madison Square Garden, New York during the "Old friends: Live On Stage" tour.-----------------------------------------MY OPINION IN THE PAUL SIMON-DEBATE BELOWThere's a lot of arguing going on about whether Paul Simon did or didn't "ruin" the song in this clip. I say, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel make an excellent duo. They started out as a duo, succeeded as a duo and will be remembered as the great duo they are.Obviously, there are two part of this duo, both contributing to this (and many other) masterpiece(s) in their own way. Sure, Paul tried to do something different with the song this time, which some may find irritating, but without him this song wouldn't even exist, and neither would this duo.Whether Paul ruined this song or not is a matter of opinion. I think of it like this; his way of performing this song this time is his way to interpret it, and after all, since he wrote the song, he knows it better than anyone else. Art did a wonderful job singing this, both in studio, in this clip, and every other time he has sung it, and he sure deserves cred for that as well as Paul deserves cred for writing it and, principally, creating the magic behind it.But after all; why complain? Even if you dislike the way Paul sings the song this time, I think you would find it very hard to honestly say that the song is ruined, or anywhere near that. So; why waste your time on complaining when you might as well accept this version and enjoy it?(I apologize for eventual language errors since English isn't my first language. Feel free to correct me if anything is written incorrectly)

Aug 21, 2008 - Paul has an amazing voice, but it seems to work better when they sing together. I don't think he ruined the song, but perhaps they shouldn't have split the first two verses. I happen to think that Garfunkel was the more powerful of the two voices, but keep in mind- without Simon AND Garfunkel, there would be no Simon & Garfunkel.

Aug 21, 2008 - Art Garfunkel is possibly the coolest cat out there! I love him and the way his voice has aged! This is one of my favorite songs by these guys and Art performs it beautifully, as always. Add a little Paul and you still have magic. Art is one of two white men who can/could pull off that haircut...him and Bob Ross! I wish I could have seen these guys in concert...any time and at any age.

Aug 21, 2008 - This is the best performace of the song i have heard. I read the info attached and could not agree more. No-one has more right to change a song than the writer and in this case i think he adds to the performance not detracts. I think Art would agree.

Aug 21, 2008 - Exactly!! I really like when Paul drags out "pain" and his "ahhh, just like a bridge" at 2:25. Also, I think this is one of the most powerful, and probably my favorite, ending to this song! I love Art and this song. I have never heard another version that I like as well as this one, if any.

Aug 21, 2008 - This song always makes me cry. It is my nan and my late grandad's favourite song. It was played at my grandad's funeral, and every time I hear it, it makes me think of how much they loved each other, and always makes me think of my grandad. I miss him so much.

Aug 21, 2008 - I really love this song from the first that I heard Elvis sing it. His full rich baritone/tenor voice is magnificent in his version. This version was good but not as heart wrenching in my opinion.
