Just a routine run home from work, took the Monaro out as it was a nice day (unusual out here during winter) and popped the video camera onto the mount inside....nothing too special, max speed ONLY 234km/h so only 144mph, but it was late afternoon and I wasn't going to start being stupid with many others on the roads too...The beeps you hear are the overspeed setting which is manually programmable by the driver, at the moment I've it set to 150km/h, so whenever you hear that annoying beep it's me crossing over 150km/h...The thing to remember as well is that when I say it's only 144mph, watch the gear changes - I've only just upshifted into 5th before hitting this speed, so I've all the rest of 5th gear left to use and 6th on top of that...Nurburgring trips are already scheduled for later in the year, so should be plenty more videos of the Monaro in Germany to come :)

bazpics Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Yeah, in general there is a good sense of what's around a lot of the drivers out in continental europe, don't get me wrong there's still plenty of halfwitts out there, but thankfully they seem to be in the minority :)

Oct 10, 2008 - Fantastic grunt under the hood of that :-)When you take it to The Ring - and you there's no others in close vicinity - be sure to whip out some powerslides. Those beasts are so controllable and easy to maneuver in a slide, and just sheer joy.

bazpics Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Yeah, I've already had her out on a couple of different tracks already back in the UK and Ireland so that I could "safely and legally" throw the rear end out without having to worry about Granny Smith with her 20 year old fiat tottering round a corner on my side of things while fixing her makeup at the same time :)

bazpics Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Skout - yes, the car is originally from Australia, it was imported into the UK where I am from, so it has the same right hand drive steering wheel as it came from the factory with.

Oct 10, 2008 - Get all that eurotrash out of the way....... I hope all that clicking was high beaming and cursing....

Carsimo Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Baz,we should put you and your Monaro in the local newspaper, that the people will move right earlier when you are flying on the Autobahn. They only know VW Golf 1.6. And most important: be aware of drivers with a hat on - they only go to third gear!See you with a Streuselbrötchen at breakfast.

armorgeddon Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Did you have the headlights on?

bazpics Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - I wouldn't have been running with full headlights on no, at most the sidelights, but most probably nothing as it was a bright sunny day...
