Jul 7, 2008 - i would have much more respect for people in this world if music like this was recognized and more widely appreciated than crank that by soulja boy...
chalkdork Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Mr Verve08. I agree with you, but in relation to much smaller bands than SR. I'm paying 80 bucks to see them in a month. They're doing ok. It is kinda shit that not everybody recognises how beautiful this music is, but, at least we get to listen to it on our own terms, without TV, radio, advertising etc shoving it down our throats. I for one am happy I won't see this song associated with a life insurance company anytime soon. It's also more fun discussing it with friends than "Crank That".

Jul 7, 2008 - off-topic:i think we, people, cant really know if God exists or not.we just dont know it
IntelligentCrow Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - You are correct we can't but just because you can't prove that he/she doesn't its not 50/50% that he does, there are thousands of things we cant disprove their existence, we cant disprove that fairies, gnomes, ghosts, goblins, ogres, etc etc etc. Science shows the world that Gods are figments of our highly developed imagination and debunks the divine.

Jul 7, 2008 - Man you're so fucking right. That's exactly how we should define Sigur Ros music.
pavlus2 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - science reveals the mechanisms of things.. is this the debunking the divine? no. it only debunks miracles and lots of religious "truths". understanding the mechanisms doesnt mean that there is no god! god it/himself is beyond science.so still, we dont know if there's a superior creature over there.. a god that created this whole stuff and made himself invisible to us.
pavlus2 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - you dont get it? havent you ever experienced this infinite beauty so that you felt to have reached everything..? have you never felt poetry so intensively that you just thought about something greater than this human life? maybe death is such a gate.poor people.. ;)

Jul 7, 2008 - They opened with Gitardjamm in Omaha, IIRC. Svefn was the 2nd song. Regardless, an awesome song and concert.

MeinenMusik Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - but onurbilad, my understanding has always been that pickups work by picking up magnetism caused by the metal strings vibrating, hence the fact that magnets are in pickups... nothing about voice causes magnetism so thats what is throwing me off..
saladlegs Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - if we do not know then why not stop looking, we've pondered questions like that for thousands of years, but we are no closer, so why bother any more, just accept that we won't know
saladlegs Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - he didn't play this song did he!
OceanBirdsMusic Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Ocean performance.
theartistandme Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - If you have a really high out-put pickup it can pick your voice up if you talk into it, aswell as radio signals. My strat's pickups can pick my voice up if I talk to it, he can just add effects to make it sound more pronouced and delayed.
tsb360 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Well, the air movement caused by the voice could cause the strings or pickup to move thus inducing a current in the pickup and making a sound. Maybe there are other possible explanations but this is the first one that came to my mind.
chalkdork Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - The band I'm in tends to fuck around with noise. Strings make sound though vibration. If it was magnetism, they'd all be screaming the second you turned the amp on (which, of course, they can, depending on volume ie: vibration). I think pick-ups work in a similar way to contact mics. For example, we sometimes attach contacts to the guts of a piano and get an horrific din. No magnetics there. Contact mics on a boiling kettle also!Plus, theartistandme says it all. It's fun! Volume is it.
MeinenMusik Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - makes sense... guess i should learn a little more aabout pickups O_O
Jrn1989 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - absolutely amazing at werchter, belgium!Everybody touched and quiet
IntelligentCrow Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - No its not God, God is imaginary, same imagination that Sigur Ros members used to create such beautiful melodies ;) The universe is vast with many secrets and distances and we are on a tiny little spacerock living, evolving, and dying :)
