A common misconception that people seem to have is that a tiger in captivity is tame or that they are friendly. Working around Tigers is a pod cast from 2007 in which which we went along side with long time former Big Cat Rescue animal caretaker Brian, as he explained a little on what it's like to work around tigers. Like people, tigers each have their own unique personalities. In this pod cast we will learn just how extreme some can be. Tigers are a very beautiful but deadly animal that are being wiped off our planet at an alarming rate. For more information on tigers and other felines go to:http://www.bigcatrescue.orgTo view Brian's page: http://www.youtube.com/user/briczar22TO HELP WILD TIGERS:http://www.savethetigerfund.org

Oct 10, 2008 - What can i do to help the tigers and all the other big cats?
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - FlamingFang17, you can do many things. Never pay to visit places that exploit the animals & make them do tricks as that creates many bad situations for the animals that the public does not see. Support ONLY sanctuaries that do NOT breed & sell the animals. Support programs that help protect & preserve these animals in the wild. Support programs that are aimed at reducing poaching. Support programs the stop the destruction of forests. If you visit our main website you can find more detailed info.

Oct 10, 2008 - FlamingFand17, have you heard of a bill called Haley's Act? If that bill passes and becomes law it will go a long way to help prevent abuse and exploitation of wild animals. Please surf our main website to find the answers you seek OR give me permission to send you some links in a message.

Oct 10, 2008 - do you look for cats in danger
mer005 Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - this would be a cool job to have keep up the good work
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Mer005, usually their stories are brought to us. We don't go searching. More situations are brought to us each year. So many that we can't save them all. That is the problem the few true sanctuaries are bursting at the seams yet the number of exotics that need rescued never seems to dwindle. Until laws change the sad stories of no longer wanted, abandoned, abused or neglected exotics will continue to grow. The numbers are staggering; it is heartbreaking that we simply can't save them all.
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Mer005, THANK YOU for caring! for watching! for posting! We could not do what we do without caring animal lovers like YOU!

bu42day Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - is it true theres more tigers in american cages than in the wild the world over?how do you feel about that?
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Experts believe that there are two to three more times the number of tigers in American backyards than left in the wild. Only about 4,000 are left in the wild. I think it is a sad reflection on our ability to manage a planet when we have caused the natural extinction rates to rise by more than 1000%
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Bu42day, that is what reports say. Personally, I find that very sad.

Oct 10, 2008 - I had no idea tigers can hiss. That one sounded like my tabby cat's hiss magnified a hundred times.
105km Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Do you think bengal, sumatrian and south china tigers are gona be extinct in 15 years?
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - 105km, sadly, it is possible. The time to step up the efforts to save the wilderness habitats for these magnificent cats is NOW. Each one of us needs to put serious effort into learning what we can individually do to support the efforts of saving and protecting their wilderness habitats. Can I send you some links?

Oct 10, 2008 - Id love to work around these animals what type of training is required?
vickiormindyb Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - I want to ask you a question: Do tigers seek out human beings to eat them?I ask because, when I tried to get some guy to show interest in saving the big cats, he disagreed on the grounds that tigers "eat human beings."I told him that 3 types of tiger are already extinct and HE said, "Well that's 3 more cats that won't eat a person."I thought he was an idiot but kept it to myself. He acts like tigers are seeking out people with a vengeance. What do you think about it?
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - Tigers, like most wild animals will avoid being around humans if they can. When humans encroach into the territory of wild animals sometimes conflicts do arise.
vickiormindyb Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - This video always reminds me of the tiger at the San Francisco Zoo, who leaped over a 15-20 foot enclosure and mauled 3 teenage boys; one died, I don't know what happened to the others.Tatiana, the tiger, was shot and killed by police, which I think was terribly sad despite what happened to those boys.Is it normal behavior for a big cat to leap over such a steep enclosure and maul some people who were teasing her? It seems distinctly "untigerish" to me.
BigCatRescue Says:
Oct 10, 2008 - IrreplaceableXD, no matter how much we are arund these amazing animals their beauty, power and wonder never ceases to warm our hearts more each day. They inspire each of us to work harder at making the world a better place for them and all animals.
