spoonfedblue Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - iVTEC does not change ignition timing. iVTEC differs from VTEC in that it has VCT, in addition to a second, larger cam lobe offering more lift and duration. VCT provides continuously variable cam phasing on the intake camshaft. The VCT system allows the intake camshaft to be advanced/retarded between 25-50 degrees, thereby altering cam/valve timing, NOT ignition timing.

spoonfedblue Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - The VTEC operations function in the same manner as a standard VTEC engine, i.e. the B16A/B, B18C1/5, etc. iVTEC engines also incorporate roller rockers, as an added improvement. The overall result is a better application of low/mid-range torque, and better torque output at low engine speeds.

Oct 11, 2008 - what´s the difference between the ek4 and the ek9???

B16BBOB Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - to answer some questions its a SiR pre-facelift(96-98)nose. and a EK4 is a VTi it is basically the same as any EJ hatch but it has a B series(thats what the K stands for)Ek9 has fully welded chasis and alot of bracing(behind bumpers and fenders)the EK9 is the CTR. And lastly EK4=B16A4 EK9=B16B

disturbanceindustry Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Don't you mean an ek4 is an Sir? Hence the b16a? If it were a VTi it'd have a d15b 3-stage Vtec and it'd be an ek3.
