Jul 20, 2008 - Hopefully yes. We are currently negotiating with a number of clients, both in Australia and overseas. More clients always welcome.A fishing trawler was used for the surfing parts.

Jul 20, 2008 - Great Video! Could you please describe how you created that artificial wave along side the boat? Did you use ballast? what type of shoreline?
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - The surfability testing was using a prawning trawler along an estuary island. The boat was smaller and slower than the hulls designed for the pool, so larger waves are expected in the pool. The aim was to show surfable waves could be made using ship wakes.

Jul 20, 2008 - that surfing behind the boat looks amazing, were did you do it??? i wanna go, you should charge for that!!! be far cheaper than building a park. hahaha
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - We did it in Yamba. And hour by hour, it will be cheaper in the pool - $30 per hour verses $200 per hour for the boat.

Jul 20, 2008 - hello yes perfect waves in a perfect line up were everybody gets their wave without the snakes. i to have designed a wave pool very similar am in the middle of making a scale model. should pump out 6 waves every 10 seconds and produce around 3 meter barrels and 150 meter rides public liability insurance will be the problem. good to see someone thinking outside the square!Check out tanker surfing on you tube.

Jul 20, 2008 - That is so awesome. We have access to a shrimp boat kind of like the one in this video. Did you guys have it weighted down in the back and how fast were you going?

Jul 20, 2008 - wait to the very end aerial shot and take a look. if you set that up, and in a short time the water will all move, not just the waves, and you'll end up with a giant whirlpool without any waves. ain't gonna work, unless maybe you change direction every 5 minutes.
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - It could be a problem if not for design solutions including our patented counter-current system :)

Jul 20, 2008 - an estate with time share apartments, I want in!!
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Yes, that is a model our clients are looking at. Living on an estate with a wave pool; beats going to the gym before or after work!

Jul 20, 2008 - make it a 4 ft wave and it'll be decent for sure ... interesting concept i must say
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - We're aiming for a 6 foot face (3 foot), though we can scale it back for beginners by slowing the hulls.
vrdice Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - That's awesome. I'll definitely keep an eye out then. How much would it cost to have a pool of this sort installed?

Jul 20, 2008 - i reckon get the emiratees` on board! build it in dubai or abu dhabi. those guys are amazing what they`re willing to build,- palm island and the world and 7 star hotels etc. no shortage of cash either!
ZYVZX Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - If anyone can make manmade perfect surfablewaves, surfing could concievably become themost popular sport in the world, if it iscost effective. Surfing even pefect small waves beats working out, running, tennis, golf, bowling, etc. etc. etc.
DiscGolfMinded Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - I just want to point out the obvious that in the video the boat is pushing the wave at the opposing shore, (which in itself is sick;) and in the computer generated image the device is pulling the wave on the same shore and not pushing it. My question is, have you tried doing this in a circular motion (be it a pool?) They are two completely different applications of force to create wave shapes. From watching the video it would seem that the wave would break on the island (opposite shore.)
stevenaschmied Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Our thoughts exactly! 12 waves in an hour for AUD$30. With each wave thirty seconds long, no waiting for sets and no hassling, it should be cost effective, and just FUN!
dez620 Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - i just wunna point out that this is the best idea going. if u can get the waves that perfect in the pool all u need is them to be abit bigger n that will be awesum good luck:D

Jul 20, 2008 - Is this place going to be built? also what kind of boat was used for the surfing parts?
