Jul 6, 2008 - my English is not so good but i try to explain why K2 is so Difficult. Most Poeple say that Mount Everest is more Difficult. But that happens only why (shure more Poeple want climp the highest mountain.K2 is a Daemon, its the Place where he stands. The Wind and Weather is absolut Horror there. It Change in a Minute from Hot Sun to Ice cold degree. You must be fast to change your Taktik. Otherwise would it be your last in your Life. Sorry for my Bad English. Hope you understand what i mean. Jul 6, 2008 - Actually if you want to go strictly by number of summits as compared to number of deaths the hardest mountain in the world is Annapurna. 40% of the people who have summitted Annapurna have died. {Wikipedia} I believe K2 is third. I think perhaps Kanchenjunga is second. I believe K2 has a 27% mortality rate while Kanchenjunga has a 28% mortality rate.Earlier in the 20th century Nanga Parbat was known as the "killer mountain." Annapurna has severe, severe, avalanche danger. K2 is a beast.

This report goes up through 2003 {Wikipedia} Annapurna ascents 130 Deaths 53 {40.7%} Nanga Parbat 216-61 {28.2%} K2 198-53 {26.8%} Manaslu 240-52 {21.7%} Kanchenjunga 185-40 {21.6%} Dhaulagiri 313-56 {17.9} Everest 1924-179 {9.3%}

Jul 6, 2008 - In relation to my previous report.... these figures are somewhat "skewed." For instance Nanga Parbats death rate before 1990 was 77%. Since 1990 it is 5.5%. Even since 1990 K2's death rate has remained at about 20% as has Annapurna and Kanchenjunga..........the thing is I'd say {from what I've gathered} most of the deaths on Annapurna and Kanchenjunga come from avalanche's. Especially Annapurna. I'd take it the avalanche danger on Annapurna is "off the charts." While on K2........
