Sep 6, 2008 - I dialed this up for Mick-he's pure gold-But Nussbaum kicked my ass! Solid,in the pocket swingin' and loose. Man I love it!

Sep 6, 2008 - Playing favourites is stupid. They're ALL monsters. Anyone who doesn't get Gerry's greatness obviously doesn't know anything about playing saxophone.

Sep 6, 2008 - As great as Mick probably is, his solo left me a little cold. Compared to the sax solo it seemed very mechanical and passionless.

Sep 6, 2008 - Bergonzi is the man. I had a chance to hang out with him for a day this summer and what a sweet guy. I learned a lot just talking to him.
Modes9 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Would you say that Mick Goodrick is the Lennie Tristano of guitar?!
SindriMar Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - I don't think his phrasing is similar to Tristano, but I get your point! ;) They are both incredible musicians with a vast knowledge of harmonic and rhythmic possibilities, as well as having a lot of feeling and lyricism in their playing. I think Mick is an amazing guitarist, just because of his phrasing and approach to the instrument. On top of that, he is such a pure improviser. He's all about music and I think his personality really shines through his playing.

Sep 6, 2008 - Seems Jerry likes him, Micks in his band and for good reason, hes one of the very best there is.

Sep 6, 2008 - if i lived in the us i would...but in the uk you dont get to see the gonz much apart from sheffield a few weeks ago ;)
olivierbarjot Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Closest thing to Tristano on guitar was Billy Bauer, and even that is a stretch.
EtherealBassist Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - agreed!
nottscountyrock Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - anyone know what mouthpiece the gonz is playing here btw?
ACEsAndBb Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - It´s looks like old "otto link" "tone master" with "selmer" "keeper" but even the best of the best mouthpiece not play itself
nottscountyrock Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - haha yeah jerry has a great tone anyway imo!
