Ed Alleyne-Johnson Busking Electric Violin in Chester UK - May 2006Fantastic - This is perhaps the best street performance I have ever witnessed. Reminiscent of Jean Luc Ponte's visceral fusion sound. This is in the city of Chester near Wales. Chester has perhaps the only double decker shopping plaza streets, with a second level up off the street within the buildings, balconies running all the way down the streets. jablesj comments - "They were made by the victorians so that rich people would not get wet while out in the rain." The sound is unaltered from the original and was emancipated at great volume in this old town.Ed uses the looper and pedals to great effect. There are no overdubs. Incredible he commanded this fantastic show all by himself, I stood enraptured with all the hair on my body standing on end, grin stretched wide. You can see where he looked up to see my ebullient smile just before he grins and kicks in the distortion. This has been a tremendous inspiration for me. I had never heard him or heard of him before this performance. Ed is awesome! I got some albums of his from the web since hearing this. I hope I can see him again one day.

Jul 6, 2008 - Because he enjoys the affection of people watching an impromptu live performance. No one pays for tickets but they can pay him if they like the music. Everybody can enjoy if they hear him, and no one says a discouraging word. Very empowering. "Why the hell is he still on the streets with that kind of talent?

Jul 6, 2008 - Great performance...one tip for the OP...don't friggin combine your unique capture of a great performer with your 'lovely' and 'unique' diamond-wipe crapfest of a tour around a town we all know. Thanks

Jul 6, 2008 - the video was filmed by a passerby - not ED :) and it has mass appeal (see the 1586 comments AND the fact that this video has been viewed some 467,000 times). It has attracted a vast audience, not all music experts, some like me who have never 'appreciated' electric violin until now :)

Jul 6, 2008 - I did not suggest that the vid was captured by Ed... I just said that the performance was great and didn't need to interspersed with the OP's visions of 'Ye Olde English Towne'

Jul 6, 2008 - TO: D.Pickering, S.Wundke and R.Munslow Dear Chester City Centre Management, Thank you for not letting Ed Alleyne-Johnson play and sell his CD's in Chester - we are very grateful as he is free to do exactly that with the blessing of the York City Centre Management, and we are delighted to have him. Not wanting to rub salt into the wound perhaps you would like to share the video of him playing with some 470,000 viewers who have left over 1,500 comments in praise of his playing
