Sep 6, 2008 - I'm going to agree with Mecinimi. He is taking it at a very repectable tempo. Karr does take it at about 120 which is rediculous, though he plays it musicaly so it is hard to falt him. This soloist does a great job. I happen to be working on the same piece and appreciate his posting. thanks.

Sep 6, 2008 - His bow is a bit crooked on the G string. Yes, it is a bit harder with the german bow (which is what I play) to have a perfectly straight bow, but it is quite possible. another thing is that his right arm is too tense making him work harder on the fast passages and string crossings than he should have to. Pretty good performance though.

Sep 6, 2008 - I think that if you started out on the bass the "side to side" movement is really unnatural but if you played another string instrument such as the violin or cello it is definitaly more natural because that is how your taught to hold the bow but it's a personal choice

Sep 6, 2008 - Maybe Karr is playing over-tempo? Both of the copies of this piece that I have state that this should go Allegro Moderato for the majority of the piece (which is 104 beats per minute). They are going at exactly that speed.
