Jul 6, 2008 - Since nobody seems up to speed, yes they're subtitling in real time. That "simple" keyboard they're using makes use of 3 alphabets. Katakana is used for foreign words, Hiragana for domestic words, and Kanji for various technical reasons. The Kana form syllables (la/ma/da are all characters) and the Kanji are one-character words (one symbol could be "dog" by itself). Each kana alphabet is bigger than the English alphabet, and there are THOUSANDS of Kanji. They're doing ALL of that this fast.
