Sep 6, 2008 - its a jacking cage. it is literally 4 struts with a hydraulic jacking system. lift the top of the crane, insert tower, pin (yes, they are held by pins) next section

Sep 6, 2008 - Thank you for this post as I have always wanted to see a time-lapse version of the process. Nice to have the horizon line for comparison but a little spooky to see that much flex! Don't the counter weights on the back move?

Sep 6, 2008 - If I was one of the guys on top of that I would have to bring one clean pair of fruit of the looms for each section up...

adogdoyle Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - I look after the maintenance on a couple of similar cranes in Australia so I know what's involved. Everytime they are put up, there are huge amounts of inspections to be done prior. If done properly they are very safe. I loved the vid too as you normally don't see it sped up. Well done mate.

SuicidalLooney Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - That crane doesn't look like it could handle alot of weight looking at the weight balance at the back, also if the arm was put together on the ground that would require alot of space on the ground, it doesn't seem like a very efficient crane.
