Jul 20, 2008 - Why the Hell does Bandershit have only a 2 cm deformed pecker? And why does Hurdl3thed34d have to suck on it 24/7?
RoryRedBrooklyn Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Lovecraft was great. Just so, so racist.
ChrisSketch Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Well, if its highly unlikely that Eldergods spoke their stories through Lovecraft a couple of decades ago, then it seems to me equally unlikely that Yahweh spoke through the writers of the bible however many centuries ago, or that Prince Siddhartha discovered ultimate truths of the cosmos while sitting under a fig tree. Maybe its best to just lump it all together and file it under "nonsense."

Jul 20, 2008 - Well thats the important thing. Not that the man wrote a series of short stories that inspired great horror writers such as Steven King. Or that he is the father of modern horror. Hate to burst your bubble but he was just a man. Born and raised in the 1920s. Not alot of equal rights activists around back then.
UberkingRobert1 Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - It is all nonsense, all that Jesus shit. But a man's not just a man...a man can do things that can't be imagined...And yes, Lovecraft was just so wonderfully racist. "On the Creation of Niggers". LOL.

Jul 20, 2008 - The Great Old Ones are real
BoyintheMachine Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - How can you say Cloverfield isn't Lovecraftian? The monsters freaking plunge from the stars (fall from the sky into the ocean) and they don't show too much of the monster at all. Most of the time you only see movement and only a part of the creature.
torresmatt Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Okay, so it's Lovecraftian just because it has a big mysterious monster in it? Well then that really widens the scope of what you can call Lovecraftian I guess. I see your point, but I just don't think the movie had any other Lovecraftian elements to it than this...most of his stories involve someone investigating something...some kind of ancestral link to the horror and a lot of psychological stuff too. Cloverfield = monster + special effects + cast of supermodels.
cinephilefromhell Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Cloverfield was a piece of overblown shit. I an okay fan of Lovecraft but that shit almost blew me off of his work. That's why Gaiman is better due to none wants to mess with the brillant work he's done due the fact that he's already perfected it.
yuggothian Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Well if it all SOMEHOW manages to be true ( which i truly doubt ) i think he added a lot of his own thoughts into it. And by that i particulary mean the extreme racism.
RoryRedBrooklyn Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - Yeah but ive heard he could make a Klansmen uncomfortable. But i agree with the guy in the Video. He never really scared me but the idea of his worlds did. Also Eldritch is annoying. Im just reading Mountains of Madness and he used it. Never noticed it before
thingjob Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - cause lovecraft made better monsters. cloverfield was not lovecraft and fans of lovecraft should know this
BoyintheMachine Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - So if I find a reference to the makers of cloverfield being inspired by Lovecraft will that shut you up?
BoyintheMachine Says:
Jul 20, 2008 - I googled and discovered that the makers claim it wasn't based on Lovecraft, but that doesn't mean it wasn't inspired by Lovecraft. Lovecraft was a genius when it came to horror, and he has inspired many things. For example, someone tried to argue with me when I mentioned that Buffy The Vampire Slayer the series and Angel the series were based on the mythos. I had to post a speech from Jasmine in Angel, plus the fact that Joss Whedon was a Lovecraft fan.
