The point of the song - for me - is about the struggles of growing up, of trying to conform to societal pressures, and the insecurity present/choices we make. REGARDLESS of how they look. Maybe that's why you stress the supposed "ugliness" of some of the girls in the video. It's about the need to accept people for who they are.
