Jul 20, 2008 - Actually strictly speaking Bowie isn't real. Originally Bowie started off as a paper mache model. In the 70's he invested in a clay based body, which using the wizardry of claymation allowed for convincing TV and Gig performances. As Bowie's fame increased so did his budget and that's when he hired a crack team of animators who pretty much did most of his 80's stuff. Into the 90's he quickly cottoned on to CGI technology and that's he's remained ever since.

Heres a little trivia tidbit that some of you might remember; because his image was always so ever-changing, MTV held this contest to see who could guess who the real David Bowie was. Obviously, they both were but a few people I knew, swore for certain the one w/out make-up was Robert Palmer, LOL. Go figure.
