Oct 7, 2008 - I am going to New Africa Road in Tutwiler, MS, and put something on this man's grave, if I can get permission to do so. Does anyone want to join me in this pilgrimage?

CoolFreeHardBop Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - Moorhead is down near Indianola MS in the Mid-Delta on a line between Greenwood and Greenville. Cross the tracks in Tutwiler and follow the road through the town, bear to the right when you get out of town and keep on the road past an intersection with a road to the right. Look for a burned down church and about 100 yards beyond that and you will see stones for Sonny Boy's grave site is back in the woods toward the Bayou probably covered with harmonicas, coins and small bottles of bourbon.

Oct 7, 2008 - Interesting comment. If something "cheap" can be made to render priceless music, I think something amazing has happened.

Steadyfreddyboy Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - Outstanding. And the band is workin so good for him and keeps it flowin. (Otis Spann on piano, i guess?...) All these old bluesmen step back behind their music and let it´s wisdom run out of it. No comparison to the modern 'biz' with all the stars and wanna-bees... Thx for posting.

Aptitude Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - I had the pleasure of meeting Sonny Boy Williamson at the Galaxy Club in Basingstoke (England) way back in around 65 or 66 I can't quite remember the exact year, he signed a harmonica case for me and gave me a few words of advice. He was one of several black blues singers touring the UK at that time, I seem to remember he appeared in a Blues television special broadcast from a railway station along with many of what became the big names in Black blues singing.
